Weight Watchers

So it seems like at least a few people on here are doing WW right now.  How is it going for you?  How long have you been doing it?  Any tips or advice for a new member?  What helps you the most to be successful in the program?

This is my 2nd week.  My first week went well, although this week I am slacking.  I am hoping to get it together though before my weigh in Wednesday night!

Re: Weight Watchers

  • I did the monthly pass. I am 3 weeks in to it and am doing pretty good. It has taught me what the portion size is that I should be eating and about portion control.

After my monthly pass is up, however, I will not be getting another one. I will be tracking my food on my own. If I make healthy choices all week long, I know that once a week I can "splurge" a little.

  • Kris, do you mind telling me why you are only doing it for one month?

Congrats Ash!  I am so happy for you!  Is your next interview scheduled yet?

Because I typically would eat fairly good to begin with. I have all the tools needed now to be able to track my food at home. I bought a food calculator to be able to track what I eat and I have the books needed.

Instead of spending the $45 on the monthly pass, I am going to use it towards a personal trainer that I will meet with once a month to show me different excercises to do each month so I don't just plateu and stay at the same weight.

  • My fiance's friend is doing weight watchers and he said one of the things that helps him is having some weight watchers app on his iphone so he can keep track of all of his points no matter where he is.  I guess that only helps though if you have an iphone but just thought I'd share that with you.  He is doing pretty well with it is noticeable that he has lost weight.
  • I did it previously and had success. I think I mentioned before I started back up because I really needed to retrain my brain and stomach after all the allergy testing. I am doing the online version and so far lost 2 lbs. I think I used a ton of my flex points yesterday (football party) but now I will be good the rest of the week  :) If you have a smart phone they have some apps that are great. The WW tracker has a points calculator built in; I also downloaded the WW Barcode scanner kind of cool because you can scan a barcode and it will tell you the points. Well for most products... a lot of my stuff is Trader Joe's and doesn't pop up in the bar code scanner.
  • I am! I did it 2 years ago and lost about 30lb, I started again 2 weeks ago and have lost 2lbs so far. Yesturday I ate like crap for the football game too, so I need to detox before weigh in on Wednesday. I do it online, and I like it. I'm not a "go to meetings" type of girl.

  • I've been doing WW for about 6 months and have been doing really well with the program. It is offered through work so it helps to have a bunch of other people on the shop floor doing it with me. The food and recipes are very good and simple to make. I even brought in WW cupcakes for Halloween and didn't tell anyone and they all went nuts for them.

Also, if you want, you can always join SparkPeople.com for FREE and track all of your food that way.  That's what works for me!
