Marriage Certificate Question

After the certificate is signed on the wedding day, does the officiant need to be the one to file it with the clerk's office or would I be able to bring to the clerk's office myself to have it processed while I am there?

You can do it yourself but my officiant mailed it for us. It took about 10 days to get the certificate.

Our officiant mailed it for us too. Once less thing for us to worry about.

You *can* deliver it in person, but no one there is going to process it while you wait. It takes about a week to get processed, and you'll get it back in the mail in about 10 days. So almost always, the officiant takes care to sign it and get it signed by the two witnesses (who do NOT have to be MOH and Best Man - we had our two moms sign it and they thought that was cool), and then the officiant turns it in to the office.
