I am busy planning my March wedding and am looking into Djs as my next hurdle to tackle.  Quick question for those of you that have priced them out or booked yours already what seems to be the going rate so I have an idea of what is a decent price and what is highway robery.  We don't want all the bells and whisltes we are going for good music with an understated feel.  My friends and family are entertainment enough and they will dance so I am not afraid of needing someone cheesy to coax people onto the dance floor.  Just play music no lights no fog no party favors.....just fun!

    I'm paying $1125 total.

    $1100:
    -5 hour cocktail hour/reception
    -2 person DJ/MC/bridal assistance team

    $100:
    -ceremony setup including music and wireless microphones

    $100:
    -basic lighting

    **Subtract $175 because we negotiated a discount somehow (can't remember why or what it was about, haha).

    Thank you guys so much!  I guess the quote I got for $500. is a steal :)  It is one of my bridesmaids brothers who I know and have heard him DJ in the past and he is not a cheeseball :)  I just had no frame of reference as to what was the going rate.

    We negotiated a $350 discount, so we got them for $1150

    Our is $1495-it is for ceremony and reception. It was a little pricey but he dj'd a friends wedding and we really liked him.

    I paid a little under $1000 for Bob Albrecht from Fantasy Productions. No lights, giveaways, second DJ, etc. Just him playing music and making announcements. He did a great job. And that was about the lowest price I ever saw on this board.

    A couple other girls on this board are using them, too.
