Break Out CI-TAY! -slightly wordy...sorry! (repost from beauty)

I have acne prone skin (ESPECIALLY in stressful times)  so I have gotten a total of three facials before the wedding.   The last two were with a woman that I bought a livingsocial deal for and although she didn't do any massages...and was a little awk (talking bad about other clients and was getting upset if I didn't laugh at her bad jokes) she SEEMED to know what she was doing with my skin.   She was going to honor my voucher price again so I went back to her.

I told her I had a ton of clogged pores in between my eyebrows, she said it wasn't a pimple it was a bump from me bumping my head (turned into a big whitehead the next day) and then she did something with red and blue flashing lights.  I've heard this is a real thing, but now my chin is breaking out like CRAZY! It was not like this before I went to her the second time.

I scheduled a last facial before the wedding the week of because I'm in a week long conference out of state the week before.  I am regretting that decision with how bad my face is.  It just didn't feel clean when I left.  I can go to another place for the same price that does massages, but they don't have the red/blue light thing or this electrode thing I call the bug zapper.

Do those things matter?  Would it be bad to switch up the routine right before the wedding, even if I'm breaking out from the current one?

  • You should look and see if there are any beauty schools near you. The red/blue light thing was most likely led light therapy. I personally recommend you to find a beauty school that has a specific Esthetics class and go there. I know where I go we use the brand Control Corrective and it is wonderful. I know we have been using CC's Acne and Sensitive facial mix and I've got a facial a week for a month and mine has cleared up tremendously. The esthetics program only charges 10 a facial... I would also look into doing a light chemical peel. That would help but it takes about a week for it to completely do it's job.

  • Also if there was a mask used it pulls all the impunities to the surface. In order for your face to clear up. It's part of the healing process. Stick with a regular face washing routine and continue with the facials and your face will be fabulous in no time :

  • Definitely check out beauty schools. When I lived in Ohio I went to the local beauty college for everything... mani, pedi, haircut, dye, etc. Cheap and they usually do a better job than professionals because they're being graded.

This, all of it. My friend is in beauty school and she takes it very seriously. Its a grade for her and experience for the future. She's doing my hair and make up for the wedding and the pictures will be going in her portfolio.

  • I went to a beauty school before (they gave the massages!)  However, the one near my apartment with that has facials charges 50 for a facial!  I thought it was crazy but since you're not allowed to tip there and I know what to expect.  (To leave totally relaxed) I think it's going to be worth is for my last one.

Im not sure where you went to a beauty school but 50 is high for a beauty school ... and I'm not sure where you got the "not allowed to tip" because you can.
I am in the Esthetics program at a beauty school and we charge 10 for a facial and get to keep tips. We don't get paid for the services just get tips
