so upset!!!

I cant stop crying about this! So much for a fun experience of getting my alterations started! I went to my appointment at L&H bridal, where I started my dress shopping and where my sister got her dress from along with alterations so they kind of know us. I go in make small talk with the women, then go up and put my dress on and wait for the women to do alterations to come in. As im standing there all excited in walks the ...women with the look of total disgust on her with her arms folded, proceeds to tell me (basically yelling at me) that I might as well just spit in her face because I didnt buy a dress from her and How dare I bring a dress that she has and that I "tired on" in here and ask to "fix it". OKAY, you knew who I was when I called and asked you about outside alterations, YOU knew that I bought a dress elsewhere, If you didnt want to do alterations to a dress that I bought elsewhere you could have told me before I came. but NO you waited until I was there in my dress excited about my alterations to basically spit in my face and make me feel terrible about even going there! HOW dare her make a bride feel that way! I dont understand why you would talk to someone the way she did to me! I was in tears! I didnt even know what to say. I just told her to forget it Ill take my business elsewhere and stood in the dressing room crying in my wedding gown!! because of how awful she talked and made me feel! I DO NOT recommend L&H bridal for anything!! Thanks for making me feel horrible and ruining what should of been a fun experience!!! How dare someone talk to a bride this way and make them feel like a peice of trash off the street!! Like i just dont understand why someone would treat someone like she did. Im usually pretty pepping with yelling back at people when they act like that, but i was just in awe, totally taken aback at why someone would treat a bride like that. WHEN you do outside alterations??!?!!

Re: so upset!!!

  • Wow.....we looked there as well.  I did the same as you and got our dresses elsewhere but was considering them for alts.  Guess I won't be now!

So sorry this happened to you.  Maybe calling and speaking to someone--Manager or Owner and letting them know what happened to you would be a good idea in case someone is not aware.  That is unacceptable!!

  • Wow, that's crazy. Good for you for taking your business else where.
  • That is crazy! Too bad you didn't yell back because she definitley needed to hear " Who the eff do you think you are talking to?" By the end of the conversation every employee in that place would have known how she talked to me and how she got put BACK in her place.

  • I hate businesses that think they can treat their customers like sh!t and get away with it. I would post reviews on every board you can find, and also go to their Facebook page and post about your experience to warn others about it. They'll probably delete the comment, but I'd just keep re-posting. It's absolutely ridiculous that they treated you like that. I would have caused a huge scene if they'd done that to me!
  • Thanks for sharing. I got my dress out of state and am looking for a place for alterations around here.  I will make sure to take them off my list.
  • Wow, I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience at L & H. I purchased my dress there and had my alterations done and could not have been happier with my experience. The salesperson was terrific and was actually the one who picked out my dress. The owner of the shop, Lucy, did my alterations and she made sure that my fit was perfect and even noticed that my veil (purchased elsewhere) was missing a bead and she replaced it for me at no cost.

  • Wow, sorry to hear about your experience.  I purchased my dress from there, and although I have yet to get my alterations done (my wedding isn't until November), I have nothing but great things to say so far.  I hope that was an isolated incident.  Honestly, if they do alterations on gowns not purchased there, I don't see why they'd have such an issue with you wanting to give them alterations business, even if you found your dress for a better price elsewhere.
