Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and is having a great start to the work-week!

Did anyone else get their pets blessed yesterday?  I was so excited about how well-behaved our normally spastic dogs were.  We also had a visiting priest celebrate mass yesterday.  He was in town because a former student of his (he used to teach at one of the Catholic high schools here) had passed away at 42.  I was very moved by his message that our time on earth is finite, and that time is a blessing in itself.  It really encouraged me to just enjoy each moment.

Speaking of enjoyable moments -- FI is employed!  He likely won't start until after our wedding, but it's a job he's wanted and it's going to open lots of doors for him, so I'm beyond excited.

How is everyone else's Monday shaping up?

What wonderful news about your FI!  I know it lessens some of the stress.

My Monday is turning out ok!  I spent the weekend away for a family event for the FILs.  It was a bit of an adventure, and I cried...but it ended up being fun and I'm glad I went!  FI's family is very nice and welcoming.  I'm not good at making myself at home, so it's always hard when there's an overnight situation, but after talking to FI the first morning there, he realized what I needed from him to ensure my emotional comfort, and he was wonderful.  It's really starting to feel like I have ILs, and that's weird!

You cried?  I hope it was a good cry!  I'm glad you're starting to feel close to your ILs, though!  It's certainly a relief!

It wasn't a good cry!  The first night we were there, FI wasn't very thoughtful.  As soon as we arrived, he decided to go change.  He left me standing there alone, before he'd even introduced me.  And he ended up getting into a conversation after he changed, so by the time he came back to me I'd been standing there awkwardly for about 30 minutes.  It was bad!  He did a few other thoughtless things, so I ended up crying when I talked to him the next morning.  He got really defensive for a second, but then he realized how uncomfortable I was, and how it wasn't very nice of him to have left me before I got settled in, etc.

Btw, I've never had my cats blessed.  I don't imagine they'd like being there with all the other animals, particularly dogs.   I've always wanted to take them for a blessing, but I'm never brave enough!

Oh man, I totally understand.  FI's family is HUGE.  I was totally overwhelmed the first time I met them all.

Oh, the cats were the best part of this little service.  Obviously they were all in little carriers, but you could tell they were not happy about all the dogs.  So cute!

My Monday was crrrazy. I work with kids with autism, so we tend to sometimes have meltdowns, aggression, etc. but this one little girl went totally ballistic, but was laughing at the same time. I don't even know how to describe it. It was way out of character for her... That combined with some schedule changes and a coworker being out made for a really weird day.

I'm so ready for better weather, too!

Professorscience--yayyy for your FI! Thats wonderful!
And Resa, glad your weekend turned out ok!

Resa -- I'm glad things worked out in the end. I understand how difficult a new situation like that can be -- especially with people who are going to be family!

ProfSci -- Yay yay and more yay!! I'm so happy for you and your fi.

Katie -- my sister also works with kids with autism (she does ABA therapy), and I can totally imagine how one off day from a kiddo can affect your whole day.

I had kind of a weird day. We were getting ready for a test / tying up loose ends in my classes, so it sort of dragged. Then I fought and won a valiant battle against our never-working-right copy machine (running off said tests)! Sometimes, it's the little things in life, ya know...

I've spent a good portion of today rather worried.  We had a car shoot at 4 different cars mid-morning on the freeways, injuring 1 driver.  Last I heard, they haven't caught him, but FI's job has him driving all around the county all day.  The only injury, luckily, was non-fatal, but still......  SO glad FI keeps in touch via chat when he's at various call sites.

One thing to remember: The wedding is just one day. The marriage is all the rest of them.
