Florist quote in Feb

I'm ready to meet with florists for quotes pretty soon and was doing some online research and found something that said February is a bad time to get a quote from a florist because roses are so expensive in Feb. Is this true? I would be paying for the flowers in August so this doesn't seem to make sense, but I just wanted a second opinion.

Also, has anyone else bought or had a price quote on a rose bridal bouquet(nothing too big about 20 flowers- PIB)? I wouldn't know a good price if I saw one, so just wondering.

    Hey Jess,

I'm not sure about the February thing. I would HIGHLY recommend my florist. Natalie from ZuZu's Petals. She's so sweet and her prices are amazing. I'm paying a little over $1000 for the following:
    1 Bridal Bouquet
    10 BMs Bouquets
    1 Junior BM Bouquet
    13 Boutonnieres
    1 Mother's Corsage
    1 Peace Rose
    1 Virgin Mary Rose
    8 Pew Decor PIeces
    1 Tossing Bouquet
    1 Unity Candle arrangement
    1 Cake Table Decor

She does ALL of the setup. I have some PIB of her work. She also has a website and FB page with lots of photos.

I think its more if your wedding is in February than roses may be expensive.
But I don't think it affects the quote for a wedding in August.

I met with florists about a year in advance, so it was the same time of year as the wedding, but we did talk to florists about this. The good ones (including the one we booked with) told us its their job to know how prices fluctuate and to take that into consideration when preparing a proposal. I say, go now if you're ready, and ask each of the florists about how the seasons affect pricing. If they don't have a good answer for you (like telling you roses are expensive in February, which is totally unrelated to a quote for an August wedding) move on and find someone more experienced.

I think february has a different season of flowers plus you are competing with the availibility during the valentines season I think.

No worries. I booked with her a long time ago though, so her prices may have gone up. Not sure?

When getting a quote usually it is the month of your wedding that will affect availability and price, not the month you are getting the quote in.

I will also add that we got married in February and got an awesome deal on our flowers.  With both of us really disliking roses we stayed away and didn't notice an increase in all flowers due to Valentines, just an increase in roses.

The time of year you get your quote shouldn't matter. If they are looking to fill their calendar closer to the date maybe they will give you a discount?

Flowers weren't a priority for me, so I went with the least expensive florist I could find.  The best deal I got was from Ashland Addison.  I was actually very pleased with them and stayed within my budget.

I would recommend my florist, Designs by Guzzardo in Roscoe Village (North side of Chicago). I am getting a great price!

I am not sure how much a rose bride's bouquet will cost, but I am getting a full peony and orchid bouquet for about $110. I think roses might be similarly priced, or a little less depending on how full you want your bouquet.

Also, I am getting my entire wedding party flowers (incl. mom's and dad's) and 20 centerpieces for about $1000.

    Best of luck!!
