QOTD 7/19

What type of music are you having at your wedding?  Band, DJ, iPod, something else?

We're going to have a DJ. I'd rather avoid the headache of trying to do it myself. Plus - this is probably the only time I'm ever going to splash out on an event for myself, so might as well make the most of it : ).

I think we will have a DJ.  I'd love to have a great cover band, but I bet they would be too expensive.  My company had a dinner dance with this FANTASTIC cover band.  They sang everything (including pop like Beyonce/Lady Gaga and hip hop)!  That's the kind of band I would want.

Avoid Showtime Atlanta.  Did not like the way they conducted business and our DJ Alec, did not live up to our expectations.

We will be having a DJ.  This is one of the last big vendors to choose.  So far we have interviewed 7 or 8 and talked to many more and have had trouble deciding.  The pricing range doesnt help.  We have received quotes from $400 - $1500.  I called show time but didnt like how they handle me on the phone or how they nickled and dime for the ceremony, extra setup and lights.  Our top choices are Hal Mealor, Black Tie Events, Atlanta Bands and DJ, Dynamic Entertainment.  I also want to have a monogram light and uplights which I have also received quotes all of the place, but found Dynamics and Hal to do the uplighting for under $200 and Dynamic does the monogram for $50 which I though was reasonable.  We are meeting with them this week and then will make our decision.  It is so hard to choose because that is a big part of the wedding.  We were watching a sample wedding video this weekend a videographer gave us and the DJ did not pronounce the wedding parties name correctly, the intro music did not play and sevreal times the music stopped or he bumbled around.  This is my worst fear!

    Good Luck in your search!

FI and I would love a band, but can't find anything reasonably priced.  Anyone have any good suggestions?  Or for a good but inexpensive DJ?

We will have someone playing acoustic guitar for the outdoor ceremony, and then he will play the piano inside for the reception. When he stops playing the piano, I will just play some classical music from my Zune. We will not have any dancing.
