not sure what to do

we orginally wanted to have an open bar but cannot afford to buy all the liquor (our hall requires us to have a TABC licensed person passing it out} so we are using a bartender from the bartending school, but all they provide is the bartender. so i decided to at least have a margarita machine {which we are getting from mr margarita} but i thought about having beer as well just dont know how to go about doing so? any advise???

TIA

we can't afford the open bar either, and my family is a bit more conservative - so we have opted to just serve wine. we negotiated some pretty decent prices with specs and they'll let us bring back anything we don't open, so it works for us. most of our friends and family enjoy wine, so we felt like it was a good solution for us. i think for beer, alot of people just get a keg and keep it behind the bar for the bartender to serve from - i don't think anyone would mind that!

I found out that Specs has Ziegenbock kegs for around $90. We are also renting margarita machines, but they are through our bartender.  We can't afford a full-out bar either, but we thought beer and margaritas will cover most tastes of the guests. Our total cost will be around $400 including all cups and bartenders.

I think getting a keg or two of beer is probably your best, and most cost effective, solution.  Call around to places like Specs and HEB and find out who has the best price on the kind of beer(s) you want to serve.
