Cape Cod travel info for guests

Hi all brides getting married on the Cape!
I started to update my web page for travel information and thought we could all share information so our guests get the best info on how to get to the cape.

Here is what I have so far, please let me know if anything you see is incorrect and if you have additional/better information you found so we can all make sure our guests have safe and stress free travel!

Air Travel:
You can fly into Boston Logan International or TF Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island and rent a car. From either aiport the drive to the Cape is approx. 1 1/2 hours.

There is also a small airport on the cape, the Barnstable Airport in Hyannis, MA. Logan International offers shuttle services to Hyannis on various airlines including Cape Air. North Falmouth is about a half hour drive from Hyannis.

Bus travel:
There are bus options from both airports to the cape as well. Greyhound (800-231-222) and Bonanza Bus Lines/ Peter Pan (888-751-8800) are good options to get to Falmouth.

Re: Cape Cod travel info for guests

  • I know I am including a big warning about Sunday traffic for people trying to fly out the day after the wedding!
  • Sunday traffic?  If it's a summer, I hope you mean Saturday traffic!  Saturday is the worst as most rentals both start and end that day.

Don't forget that there is a ferry from Logan to Ptown, as well.

  • Wow, that's pretty much word-for-word what I have on my site! The only thing I've found is that rental cars seem to be a bit less expensive at TF Green.
Huh, now I'm wondering if I should include traffic info/what to expect traffic-wise. I honestly don't know how bad it is on the 2nd Sunday of September, but some people will be leaving for the airport directly from my Sunday afternoon wedding.
  • This is what I had for my Falmouth wedding-- half the guests were coming from the NYC area, a bunch from Boston, and the rest flying in from all over. Our wedding was in October so I wasn't overly concerned about traffic, but in the summer it's worth mentioning. I would guess that there could be lots of traffic any weekend day.
Falmouth, MA is a classic New England town, complete with historic churches alongside the Village Green and a bustling Main Street. It is approximately 4-4 1/2 hours driving from New York City.

The closest major airports to Falmouth are Logan Airport in Boston, MA (BOS) and TF Green airport in Providence, RI (PVD). Falmouth is about an hour and a half drive from either airport. However, on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings that drive time could be longer due to the increased traffic to the Cape.
Amtrak provides train service to Boston South Station, where you can connect to bus service to the Cape.
Falmouth's bus station is within walking distance or a short cab ride away from the center of town, and is serviced by Peter Pan Bus Lines (59 Depot Ave, www.peterpanbus.com ). Daily express buses run to and from Boston's Logan Airport ($30 one-way, $55 round-trip), as well as Boston's South Station train and bus terminal ($26 one-way, $50 round-trip). There are also daily buses to Providence, Rhode Island,  T. F. Green Airport in Providence, and New York City.
