Wisconsin Resort Wedding - Help!

HI All!!  I am new to everything.  I am new to TK, and new to this whole planning process.  I need some help finding a cool resort to have our wedding.  We live in Chicago and would love to do a destinations wedding, but since our families are too large that is not a real option.  We would like to do a resort that is some place between Green Bay and Chicago that has  "resort" feel.  Also, we want to have the ceremony in a catholic church near the resort.... Does anyone have ideas of cool places that I am missing?  We would probably invite about 200 people (I am sure a lote less will show).  Ideas....?

Re: Wisconsin Resort Wedding - Help!

  • I've heard that Blue Harbor Resort in Sheboygan is great for weddings. There are also no less than 5 Catholic churches in that area, so I'm sure you'd have no problem getting your date if you're able to do your pre-cana there, too.
  • The Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva is nice.
    Praying for a miracle!
  • If you go towards LaCrosse, you have Wisconsin Dells with a few resorts, Kalahari and The Wilderness have nice reception hall areas. St. Cecelia's is in Wis. Dells and St Mary's in Portage. Three Bears Lodge in Warrens(Tomah) has a reception hall as well as a resort. They have various lodging options, from the hotel to cabins to camping, so the families can decide what they would like to do and have a (mini)vacation. St Mary's is the Catholic Church in Tomah, don't know if Warrens has one but in all my life, I've only ever known of St. Mary's in Tomah/Warrens.

The OP asked for suggestions only as far north as Green Bay, since she is coming from Chicago. You might want to read the original posts before offering suggestions. Tomah is a pretty long drive from the Chicago area!

To the OP, Wisconsin Dells does have many resorts with lovely ballrooms that hold over 200 people.  Consider looking into sites there.  It is the same distance from Chicago as Green Bay is.  Good luck with your planning!

Sorry. I was just thinking along the eastern side of the state, since that's what OP appeared to desire.

I know that a lot of people get tunnel vision when picturing Wisconsin and only seem to think the state goes straight up from the Illinois/Wisconsin boarder on the eastern side and maybe to Madison/Wisconsin Dells area but it stops there. I grew up in the central part of the state and thought that maybe if she wanted to consider other areas vs sticking to the eastern part of the state.

OP, in the eastern side, is the American Club in Kohler. Very beautiful and amazing food!

Have you looked at Tundra lodge in Green Bay? I've never been there but the website looks nice. We are getting married at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, it's over looking Delavan Lake. It's about an hour and a half northwest of Chicago.
  • I actually work at Lake lawn and its beautiful! That is where I am getting married in September too!
