Ladies with shorter hair- updo or down?

I have shoulder length hair and my wedding hair stylist (in Iowa) said I would need to buy extensions in order to do a good chignon or updo.  I didn't end up getting the extensions b/c I didn't want to look completely different than I do in "real life."  I just got a hair cut from my regular stylist in DC and he said it would be no problem to do an updo with my length of hair.
Ladies with shoulder length and shorter- are you putting your hair up or just leaving it down?

  • I have slightly under my shoulders hair and I am getting the longest extensions I can find. I usually ALWAYS have long hair (to my waist) but of course- I cut it all of right before I got engaged.

  • I'm probably putting in extensions.  But only because the hairstyle that I have picked out requires more volume than I have in my hair.

Side-swept ponytail, but will add hair to make it look fuller.

I've always had long hair to my waist also, and had recently cut it too. Right now it's just past my shoulders, so I'm doing beach waves

  • Midge- I love your hair style half up like that- it looks great on you.  I love the beachy waves too so hopefully my hairstylist can do that!  I bought a silk flower for my hair too so that will have to be incorporated somehow.
  • Hilary - I'm putting a teal/aqua flower in my hair. My hairdresser will pull some hair back by my right ear and put it there.

  • My hair is normally the same length as Midge's. I intentionally let it grow out so I could do an updo. It's down to my shoulders now, and the stylist had no problem pulling it up. We probably have to use more pins than we would if I had longer hair, but it still works.
  • Mine is shoulder length and I want it down but I have to do something that will work with my comb headpiece and and comb veil.

  • I'm no help but I'm in the same situation. I was hoping some updos would work.
