I think I picked the wrong dress... (LONG!)

So I was reading Buckeye's post about how she cried when she tried on her dress. I never had that reaction. It was me, MOH, MOB, aunt, cousin who wasn't originally going to the wedding because she's under 18. I made my MOH try on dresses first because I was still waiting for MOG, FSIL and FG. They were going to be late and my MOH tried on the dress her and my FI liked. She tried on a couple more other people picked out. FINALLY she tried on my dress and she loved it. (I am that good!) The others still hadn't shown up. So I got into my first dress. Walked out. Didn't have any feeling. Got into the second one walked out and MOG, FSIL and FG were there. I tried on 7 other dresses. The whole time FSIL kept making rude remarks and I was just so overwhelemed that I couldn't think or feel. I tried on one dress. It was a corset dress. It was to small on me but the woman laced me up in it anyway. I walked out everyone loved it! I turned as red as the sample sash on the dress! I started to fall so I leaned on my cousin and she held me up while some other woman got me out of the dress. At the end of it before I even picked my mom, aunt and little cousin left. So my only support was MOH. I felt I had to pick  a dress right then and there. So I tried on a couple more a few times. Then just said whatever this one is fine. No crying no emotion. Later while reading a story I found the perfect dress!!! And of course way out of my price range so I am glad my dress wasn't refundable. I am going to post up a couple of the dresses. Let me know which one is the best. (I really just want to know if I made the right decision)

Please tell me 1, 2, 3 or 4?!

  • That's really tough without knowing your body type. It really depends on how the dress fits YOU and what type of wedding are you going for? (Church, beach, etc)

  • Its hard to just pick a dress based on a picture....if I were picking a dress, I would like to see how they look on you, not some model. One dress might look great on the modle, but not be flattering on you.

  • I don't have pictures of any dresses on me. I live with FI he is a curious little bee! Getting married at a country club in 58 days...

  • I like #3....but that's just my personal taste and is in no way a reflection of what would be good for you. Like PPs said...it's about your body type and weddng style. Your dress should be the dress that makes you happy...not a dress that internet strangers say is their favorite on a model.
  • I love #3! But whichever you go with, they're all beautiful.
  • I wouldn't get too hung up on having that "this is the ONE" feeling or crying with dresses.  Not everyone does that.  I never had that emotional feeling and I tried on TONS of dresses.  I was starting to freak out because i thought I had to have that feeling. But after talking with other brides, I realized I'm just not that openly emotional and the dress isn't that important to me, so it makes sense.  Anyway, after lots of shopping, I found a dress that I really liked, I felt good in, and was in my budget, so I bought it!  No crying or anything, but I am happy!

So here's my question:  do you like your dress?  As long as you like it, you feel good in it and you are happy, it doesn't really matter.  There are tons of dresses out there, you just need one.  And I also believe that it is silly to put so much into a piece of clothing to blow your budget on it (you will wear it for 1 day).  With 58 days till your wedding, you probably don't have time to get a new dress anyway and you'd lose the money on the dress you have.  So I'd just try to be happy with what you've already chosen.
  • They all look very similar, to me.  But if I have to pick which one I personally like best, it would be the 2nd one.

When I tried on dresses, I already knew I was going to be having mine made.  But, when I tried the one that was similar to what I knew I wanted, it felt right.  It made me smile.

I did, however, almost cry when my bridesmaids all tried on the dress I ended up picking for them.  It was perfect!  And then I found out it was being discontinued.  LOL  So, the guy who is making my dress, is also making theirs.
  • ok so my dress is the 2nd one... dream dress was 3rd....

  • First off...I will say that the dress you chose is very pretty...and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. So if you are keeping it...don't worry at all. You will be beautiful. However...the fact that you called #3 your "dream dress" does say something. Maybe (if..and ONLY IF..you can handle doing it without stressing, breaking your budget, or being terribly disappointed if it doesn't work out) you could try looking at used dress sites for something more similar to that style that is your size. That way you could have it in time and not spend nearly as much money. It's worth a shot. If you can't...let it be and keep the dress you purchased already. Don't worry about it so much that you don't enjoy your wedding! It is only a dress after all.
