Hello ladies!

Well, after last week when I introduced myself, life got crazy with school and work, but I'm back now.

I hope you all had a blessed week!  What does everybody have planned for the weekend?  Our church has a potential pastoral candidate in town, so I'm going to spend the weekend interviewing her and entertaining her children.  We're hoping everything goes well--this pastor is a very good fit for our church, and we've been without for over a year, so we're all praying for guidance.  BF is also taking his truck to the shop this weekend to get the transmission fixed (which is the last major expense we have to deal with before we can start working on the whole "engaged/wedding" thing!).

Anyway, I hope you all have had a wonderful week, and have a fun weekend!

Welcome back! That's really cool that your church will consider hiring a female pastor. Many of our churches around her are very traditional in that only men can be a pastor or elder of the chuch. What kind of church is it, if you don't mind me asking? And I hope you guys can work on the "engaged/wedding" thing real soon!

    Weekend plans for me:
WR: picking up all the pieces of my new centerpiece idea! (see my post about being blessed)

NWR: Going to an engagement party for a friend/coworker of FI tomorrow, and then spending father's day with my daddy and FI's grandpa on sunday :)
There's only 1 way 2 say those 3 words and that's what I'll do... I love you Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hmm I have a seminar with my school of education on Saturday, then hopefully taking it easy that afternoon, then my dad's birthday dinner Sat. night!  On Sunday we have another pre-marital counseling session (only 2 or maybe 3 more to go at this point!), and then I have a concert that afternoon downtown near where I live ... then prepping for my Dr. appointment on Monday (getting 2 moles removed on Monday, arrrrgh!).  Anyway ... I will have it pretty busy for the next couple of weeks.  Really, it's not going to wind down until about the two weeks right befor the wedding, and at that point, I'll be going to FI's apartment to get more of my stuff out of boxes and to pack up some of the things that are going with his aunt to the family home. ... lots to do!!!!! :-)
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

Yay for getting a pastor!!  Yuck for having to fix the transmission - my hubby works on that stuff all the time and I've helped him fix stuff like that.  It's not cheap at all.  :(  But yay for it being the last expensive thing!!

I went and ordered two cakes (one for a birthday, one for Father's day) earlier and I'm hoping they rock!!  Tomorrow I take the birthday cake to my mom's church for the lady's birthday.  :)  Tomorrow night we hang out with my "dad" for Father's day and I take that cake.  :P  Sunday I think church and then I dunno!!

Good to see you again.  This weekend should be pretty relaxing for me. After church on Sunday we are going to my sister's house for a father's day lunch.  That's pretty much my weekend.

Mrscatfish - hope all goes well with the pastor's visit this weekend.  My dad was a pastor and so I was always on the other end - it's not easy for the kids to move but God knows what's best.  My sister is currently a pastor and while I know that some denominations frown on female pastors, I know that God called her to it and who am I to argue with that?

iamjoesgirl:  Thanks for your kind words.  I'm glad she brought her kids with her--gives us a chance to get to know them and try to make them feel welcome, should everything work out and they end up moving.

SoonToBeGenao:  We're Presbyterian (PCUSA)...there's a long history of strong female leadership in the denomination as a whole.  Our church has traditionally had a male pastor, but we're lucky in that the congregation is up for the best candidate, no matter the gender.

Sounds fun, ladies! My current pastor is a woman and I attend a Presbyterian church too, so maybe it's something with the denomination. Ours in an interim, so I don't know how long she will be here, but FI and I have really grown close to both her and her husband, so we REALLY don't want them to leave! She will be marrying us and we are so happy she is here. I hope this woman works our for your congregation!
