Target Registry - Bad or Good?

Hi Everyone - I love Target and shop there quite often, but I keep hearing bad things about their registry. I've heard that they are difficult with returns and often don't take things off of a registry. Any suggestions??? Thank you!!

Re: Target Registry - Bad or Good?

  • We registered at Target and it has been great so far. We had no problems with returns or things being added or deleted unexpectedly. You will also hear that they discontinue items frequently, but we've found this to be untrue as well. In the past 6 months only one of our items was discontinued. If you like Target and their stuff, register there! Our guests bought items off the Target registry a lot more than the Macy's one which leads me to believe that Target is more convenient as well!

  • We're registered at Target and haven't had any issues so far, and friends of mine who have registered there had nothing but good things to say as well. HTH!
  • Thank you all! :)
  • I had quite a few friends that recently got married and told me to NOT use Target for registering. They have a weird refund policy where you can only return or exchange up to $40 worth of items without a receipt. They also dont seem to update the registries like most places, so many of my friends got tons of duplicates (which then makes the return policy more annoying).

I decided to go with Macys and Crate & Barrel even though I love Target, just to avoid the headache. If you plan to use them, I hope you have a much better experience!

  • I think it varies from store to store with their policies.  I have a friend who had no problems at all in one store and then another friend had horror stories at another store 20 miles away, both situations had to do with returning items without receipts.  The reviews on here about registering there aren't great, but if you like the store, go for it.

This!  A friend of mine got 4 salad spinners.  One store would not take them back because they said it was past date and only wanted to give her $3.88 store credit for each when it was clearly $39.99 on the registry.  She went to another store across town and they gave her the $39.99 each.

She also had some problems with having to exchange for items in the same department when she did not have a receipt and it had to be for the same dollar amount, even if she wanted something that would cost more and she would pay more.

  • I love Target but I've had bad, bad luck with their registries.  They lost my login information and I couldn't get online to edit my registry and I couldn't do it in the store.  Then they told me there was no way to delete it.  Grrr.

A friend of a friend had her registry there and a week before her bridal shower a bunch of baby stuff showed up on it and people thought she was pregnant.  She wasn't.  Awwwkwarrrrd.

  • Thank you for the suggestions - I liked the ease of the store - we have some out of town guests and Targets are everywhere, plus I love the store. I think we may go with Kohls instead. Thanks again!

We are currently registered there and we've had random baby stuff show up, just want our family needs to see.. hahah.

Otherwise so far so good! We have had 10 or so things discontiuned but I guess with the change in seasons it's expected. We aren't getting married til October and already started registering in April due to a early shower in June.

I've also registered at Kohls and so far that's been great! No randoms, discontiuned items or anything.

  • we just registered there, and so far half he stuff we put on there didnt show up and the other half got discontiued. the others are titled with numbers only, and has no description/picture of what the item is so how are people looking at the registry suppost to know?
  • I love Target too but they changed their registry and return policies a few years ago and all of my friends say do not register there for bridal or baby!  I like things are easier to find off registries when I shop there, at Bed Bath and Beyond I always have to ask a worker to find anything!  But I would not recommend Target.  Luckily, Target is not so expensive so maybe you can buy stuff fromt ehre you want after the wedding with your money you got for your wedding.

  • I also agree each store is different and in each region is different, but why chance it?
