moh gift... what do you think?

So, Iv having a small wedding.. we are getting married on the beach. Its only my MOH and FI has a BM. my moh i have known since she was born (im older) our dads grew up together and are great friends so we grew up together. We lived in different towns and spent every single summer/vacation/long weekend together. And we are complete beach bums. So are our moms. We spent probably 5 out of 7 days a week in the summer at the beach since as far back as i can remeber. And always together. - just a little back ground.

So anyway,
I was thinking about getting her a pretty awsome beach bag. She has been using this duffle bag for at least 5 years for a beach bag. lol. So i was thikning about getting her a really awsome beach bag, and maybe one of those like small bags thats like a little cooler..
And then in the beach bag I was going to put some stuff. I was thinking about getting her these awsome sandles she would loooove that i saw. and then i am lost. I did see a tiny wet bikini bag on the knot that i could get. I just dont know what elese to put in there. And im stuggling with the fact that this is too impersonalble. I know these are things she would love and she wouldnt buy her self... (ie she has used the same DUFFLE bag as a beach bag for like 5 years lol).
None of these have to be in like my wedding colors or anything, and i was thinking beach stuff because shes a beach bum not beacuse im getting married at the beach. Idno does anyone have any better ideas? I know the whole coach wristlet thing but honestly we have millions of those.

Re: moh gift... what do you think?

  • What would you put in the bag if it were her birthday gift?  You know her better than we do.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I think that sounds great. Pottery Barn has some really nice beach towels. You could have it monogrammed or have her name on it.  http://www.potterybarn.com/products/awning-stripe-beach-towel/?pkey=cpool-beach

One of my favorite things that I always take to the beach is a little mini iPod dock (include batteries).

A trashy beach book might be nice too if she likes to read.

Personally, I think it would be nicer to receive just a couple things that were a nicer quality, than a bag filled to the brim with stuff (ie, I'd rather a nice bag with just a nice beach towel, over a cheap bag with a cheap towel, discount store sunscreen, etc).
  • How about one of those straw beach mats?  I have one of those and I looooove it.  Also lip stuff with spf, the 'eos' brand is nice and comes in a cute container.

I don't think thats at all impersonal, since you thought of something she needs and would love.  It's a very nice gift!

One of my favorite beach items is the oversized beach towels I got a Kohls a couple of years ago.  I use them whenever I'm at the beach, pool, etc.  They're really good quality and 2 people can fit on them.
I agree with PP about sticking with a few higher quality items rather than focusing on filling the bag.  Maybe you can include a gift card to a store for her to get a new swimsuit for the summer.
  • It's fine to give her beach stuff if she likes the beach. You're not theming the gift around your wedding in this case ... you just happen to be having a beach wedding with a MOH who likes the beach. Nothing wrong with that.

When I go to the beach, I like to have a couple big towels, good-quality sunscreen, lip balm, an umbrella, sunglasses, something to read, and maybe a small cooler with a reusable water bottle and maybe some reusable ice packs.

How about something to listen to music with ... you could get her some good headphones or a small mp3 player if she doesn't already have one. Or a battery- or solar-operated phone charger so that she can recharge without an outlet.

Does her favorite beach require a beach badge? You could buy it for her as a gift.

  • I was just on rue la la and they have a bunch of cute and unique beach towels.  Shop closes tomorrow at noon. PM me if you need an invite :)
