Has anyone used The Cannery for their reception venue?

My good friends used to live there, and they now refuse to go back for anything after dark.  There were lots of cars broken into, drunk people peeing on things, etc.

Neither of them are wusses, either.

I had friends that lived there too. Its interesting, but would only be good for a small reception. It is in a pretty rough neighborhood too. I wouldn't go out there after dark by myself...

Have you looked at Top of The Market? it has he same kind of feel with the exposed brick.  I work at Square One, which is below the Cannery.. The neighborhood isnt that bad.. but I Love top of the Market!! it about a block away from the Cannery.. Its part of the 2nd street public market.

Yes, we looked at Top of the Market. We found it to be very dirty- lots of stains on the carpets, ripped up couches in the seating area outside the main room. Also, the person we were supposed to meet to show us the place (Michelle) didn't show up and didn't even call to explain where she was! AND didn't even answer her cell phone when I called to see where she was. We just let ourselves in because it was open. All in all, I'm glad that the place was gross because I don't think I could have dealt with someone who can't even show up to appointments.

We ended up going with The Cannery. It's such a cool space and we're having a small wedding so it is going to work just fine for us.
