Neither my finace nor I are all that into cake (except for one... see "PS" at the end) and we're looking for some other dessert ideas (not sure if we want to do the cupcake thing).  I was looking on another message board and one girl gave this list of ideas- her copied post is in blue
rice krispy treats (they can even be shaped and decorated like a cake)
ice cream sundae bars
Krisy Kreme donut towers
Croquembouche (cream puff tower)
cheesecakes
fruit cobblers 
any kind of pie
dessert shots (mini parfait type things in different flavors)
two-bite desserts like brownies, petit fours, eclairs, whoopie pies
action station desserts like cherries jubilee, bananas foster (the flambe thing is cool)

I really liked her ideas- rice krispie treats, cheesecakes, and the dessert shots.  I've looked at a lot of bakery's websites and they all seem to advertise cakes, cookies and cupcakes.  Anyone know of a good, but affordable baker that does all of these things?  (Sorry, I know I'm asking a lot!)  I would prefer someone in Eastern CT/Hartford/Middletown area.

PS: The one cake my fiance and I LOVE is trifle, which as I've thought about it would be difficult to serve at a wedding?  Anyone know of a baker who does any kind of work with angel food cake?

    We're doing an ice cream sundae bar, with a fresh fruit station (with pound cake and whipped cream), and a finger-dessert station.

    You want to do ALL of these?  That's a lot! 

    I know our caterer (Emily's Catering) offered a s'more station, or a strawberry shortcake station, or one of the live stations you mentioned (though be prepared for a long line for that!), which are  all cute unique ideas!  They could do literally anything on your menu.

    I'd say pick one main dessert, and then have a dessert station with a few other options, like the two-bite desserts you mentioned or a pie buffet for people to pick from.

    Also, sorry about the vague subject in my original post!  I started writing it, got distracted and then started writing the message!  I had surgery last week, have been house bound since then, which has been nice because its giving me a ton of time to plan and research, but my mind has been all over the place with ideas I just can't seem to stick to one thought at a time!

    We are thinknig of doing a pie table with all different types of pies.. Our other options include a cookies and milk table (my FI loves cookies and mlik) or an ice cream sundae station because we love ice cream. We are going to stick to one or two dessert options. I think we will also have a very small cake to cut just for show/tradition.

    Yum...I am now tempted to make all of those things for football tommorow!

    I ditto a caterer for something like this- we are doing three different types of cupcakes and a cake for us to cut.
