Experience at David's Bridal?

I'm curious if I should give them a try. I've read such bad things about them, yet I also read that some have good experiences there.  I am looking to buy an inexpensive dress off the rack since the wedding is in September.  I'm also considering bridesmaid dresses from there.  Which location(s) have you been to and what did you think?

If I buy a dress there, I expect to get alterations done elsewhere since I've heard they're exhorbitant in that regard.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm also going to visit some of the other places you all recommended before. :)

I got my dress at David's Bridal in Greenville, SC after looking at several bridal shops that were all WAY to far out of our budget. I found MULTIPLE dresses I loved and the one that I chose ended up only being 250$! Everyone was very helpful and they were not pushy.

I am planning to get my dress altered elsewhere as well.

I would suggest you at least go look at David's Bridal because you can find great deals and buy off the rack (which is what I did, even though my wedding isn't for a year!)

Both my daughter and I got our dresses at DB--wide selection, and reasonable prices. I tried 3 other boutique-type stores before that.  One was great (Kelly's closet, lovely gowns, great help, but they just didn't have the dress for me), one (Bride Beautiful) was hideous, I had a really bad experience there.

I think it largely depends on when you go, and to which DB.  Try to avoid Saturday, if you can.  And if you don't like one store, there are a few in the metro area, and they carry different stock.

I am getting married in April and found my dress there. Its $300.00. Plus, if you order your bridesmades dresses there you get $10.00 off each one if thats where you buy your dress. At least thats how it is in Columbus.

I bought my dress in April for my March wedding.  I went to the DB in Kennesaw and had a wonderul experience.  I went to several other smaller stores and didn't have a good experience.  I do recommend them.

I got my dress there as well and I had a great experience.  I have found out 2 things about DB:

-Go on a weekday or weekday evening, they are a lot less crowded and you will have more personal time with the person that will be helping you and you'll feel less crowded.

-Its all about which location you go to.  I really loved my expereince at the one in Kennesaw but I refuse to go back to the one on Gwinnett....

I had a great experience at the DB in Stonecrest(I worked with Amanda)

Only thing is when I went to do my last payment (which they are supposed to order the dress after the last payment) but she went to the back with the dress I wanted but it had arm pit stains because someone had tried it on already....A bit grossed out I asked about it and she said "oh once its steam cleaned it will be just like new"

I paid for a new dress not a like new dress. So she got the manager and informed her that I was a good customer and had been really good at making payments , so they went ahead and ordered a new dress.

    I was speechless

I went to the one in Gwinnett and Athens even after all the horror stories. It turned out great...the Bridesmaids dresses was a little hectic, but we went on the weekend in evenings. I def. recommend a week day as well.

I actually preferred Gwinnett over the Athens one.

I want to go to the Kennesaw one but I'm considering going to the Stonecrest because it's a whole lot closer for me.

I went to the DB in Morrow on this past sunday with my bridal party to start the kick off of my dress hunt! I was greeted at the door and placed with Melinda who is fairly new to that location but has been in the business for years. My experience as a plus size bride was far more greater then i expected for myself and bridesmaids. The weekends i hear are really crowded but like the weekday, sunday was quite and peaceful.Melinda understood the importance of my selection and what i wanted and paid attention to detail in a way that i landed my dream dress after my 2nd fitting.I highly recommend this location because they were attentive and affordable and willing to work with me even though im not a size 2.

I was really well taken care of and enjoyed looking at all the dresses. The woman assigned to me was very helpful and didn't mind that I tried on a million dresses and then kept trying on the same two dresses back and forth to decide. It was a great experience.

Except their mailing list. I used my parents' number, and they get calls all the time, and I get tons of emails and offers from their partners. Stay off the lists if at all possible!

I purchased my dress from the StoneCrest DB and I dealt with Margaret...she took good care of me and my bridal party. They were great at making sure we were comfortable with our purchase. Needless to say, my gown was only $250!!!!! The girls got a discount on their BM dresses and so did my mom bc she purchased her MOB dress. All in all GOOD EXPERIENCE. DB was my last choice, but should have been my first. I agree with the pp about when to go...during the week is great bc you actually get your full appointment without many interruptions. GL!
