Vendor Gratuity

So I read that if your photographer and/or videographer own their own co. that it's not necessary to add a gratuity. My dilema comes up b/c we are paying for additional photographer and an addistional videographer. BOth those payments are due the day of the wedding. I would want to add a gratuity for the additional graphers but should I make two seperate envelopes to hand owner the extra amount and gratuity straight to the additonal phtographer?  Or everything in one envelope adding a bit more gratuity to include both photographers eventhough it's not 'necessary'? Ugh what  to do?? ANd anyone know the typical gratuity??
Thanks for the help!

We did every individual as their own envelope. I left them unsealed and at the end of the night we discretely went through and made sure we agreed with the amounts we had set aside intially. I cannot tell you how helpful this was. It was good to be able to reward a specific individual for a job well done and take out money for another individual if we felt they did not live up to the level of work we were promised. Definitely do individual envelopes and leave them unsealed.

I had them all labled with who they went to and they were in my clutch. I used little thank you card envelopes so they'd fit. Our other plan if they didnt fit was to have my dad hold onto them until we needed them.

We mainly did it becaues I wanted to avoid digging in our wallets and pulling out cash in front of all of our guests- but it worked out really well.

This brings up an interesting question, though.  Does it feel odd to tip the second photographer but not the primary because he owns the company?  If you tip one, wouldn't you want to tip the other whether he owns the company or not?  I understand the logic of why you wouldn't, but it feels awkward to me.
