Does anyone have Dress alteration recommendations?

I got my dress at a sample sale and need to alter it from a size 10 to a size 0. Has anyone done this before? I am looking for recommendation for places that will do this for a reasonable price of under $200. The place I got it from quoted $700 which is too much :(.

Popular seamstresses on this board are:

    Elizabeth Parks (Tacoma)
    Darcy of Fragile Fit (Lynnwood)
    Deb Hedeen (Ballard, Seattle)

I'm going to have my dress taken in as well (but only about 2 sizes).  I imagine taking a dress in 10 sizes is A LOT easier than taking it out 10 sizes... Best of luck!

I think you are asking a lot.  The seamstress will basically have to re-make the dress. How much beading or other detail work does it have? The more it has the more expensive it will be.

I used Darcy at Fragile Fit for my fairly minor alterations- new bussle, add sleeves, add bra cups, and steam the dress- and it was $120. She re-set my veil for free.
