Receptions at Ameristar or Lumiere??

We are planning to have our ceremony at the Conservatory in September, and I was set on the reception being at Ameristar- but it's very pricey. Does anyone have any thoughts on the venue that has had/been to a reception there? I was also considering looking at Lumiere for the reception, but I would guess that's just as expensive.

Most of our guests will be coming in from out of the area so will need entertainment/lodging so we are leaning towards a casino type venue for that purpose (plus it makes it much easier to not invite kids). I would appreciate any input!!

    I have been to a reception at Ameristar (granted, it was in 2009) and it was really nice. Big area with spread out bars, great colors, etc. There was also an "outdoor" balcony for smokers (if you are worried about that). I think having a hotel very close or the spot for your reception is a good idea, especially for out of town guests.

    My sister had hers at the Stegon Regency in St. Charles. They were about half the price of Ameristar and there's a hotel right by it.
