Groom can't dance...

Does anybody have any suggestions on a easy/fun/GOOD instructional DVD for dancing?  My fiance is very very tall, very very thin, and fairly uncoordinated.  Imagine the Green Giant doing the Oompa Loompa dance.  We'll probably be able to muddle our way through our first dance, but I'm hoping we could learn some moves together with a DVD (we live in a very rural area with no hope for actual dance lessons).  I got him to show me how he'd dance to some faster music, and somebody's gonna get knocked out by his elbows or his knees if we don't do something....

Any ideas?  Thanks!

I'm sorry.  From your post the first thing that came to mind was Footloose.  I know it's not an instructional DVD, but maybe you could use it as an inspirational one.

Aww poor FI. I would suggest practicing together in your home. Nothing too specific just what feel natural. I wouldn't stress a DVD or anything.

What about your future inlaws, or your own parents?  Or any couples you know that can dance?

I think it would be easier if he took some dance lessons.

Thanks....neither of our parents are big dancers, and anyone that we know that can dance live way too far away.  Getting FI to sit down and watch Dirty Dancing would be like pulling teeth, although I like the movie.  :)

You're not alone honey.  We invested in dance lessons.  If you can fit it into your budget, I would highly recommend it.  We had a ton of fun at the lessons, it gave us time together where we weren't stressed out about other annoying planning issues, and in the end, my fiance learned a few good moves he can use forever.

Dont get a dance instruction DVD. It isnt the same as having an instructor and all it will do is frustrate you more.  its tough to interpret the way they move versus the way YOU should move and you get zero feedback on technique.  Dancing is a lot about subtlety and you just cant absorb that much as a beginner.  If you can, I would agree with other posters and say go to a studio.  if you cant, dont sweat it.  if he can loosen up enough to have fun he will look great. being tall and gangly doesnt make you look dumb - feeling awkward does!  Good luck!
