Fall 2010 Wedding Season

I feel like there are a bunch of us about to get married all in a row.  There were a couple over the past few weeks, but technically y'all were still Summer ;)

Holly's this weekend.
Leigh Anne on the 2nd
I'm the 9th.
Do we have a 10/10 NC bride?
Do we have a 10/16 NC bride - Yes!  Addie!
And Heather on the 17th!
Corrine and Beth are both the 23rd, right? Isn't Dawn around this date too?
Anyone over Halloween?

How are you ladies doing?  Everything coming together alright?

I'm starting to spaz out just a tad because there is still so much to do and so little time now....that's what I get for procrastinating up to this point though.  No one to blame but myself.  FI is as helpful as he can be, but I'm a very take charge kind of person, and I like to know that things are being done the way I want them to be, so I don't tend to delegate too much out to him without my supervision...lol!  How are things going for you, Mary?  Do you have everything ready or still working on a couple of odds and ends?

A couple of odds and ends...

Like what to do with my hair and makeup.  And finalizing flowers.  And finalizing the menu, and choosing a champagne because we want to upgrade from what they typically serve.  And we need to book a hotel room for that night.  And I'm ready to end the long battle with the baker.  And getting something for FI and his dad to wear.  And getting the rest of the bridesmaid and groomsmen gifts.  And talking with the church so I can figure out what to put in the programs.  And creating a timeline.  And a couple other things.

You could say that we've got a bit left to do.  Oddly though, I'm not really stressed.  It will all work out.

It will totally work out Mary- all will be well! I'm freaking out a little too... we still need to do programs, my officiant is my wonderful friend from college who also happens to be a minister, but she hasn't had time to work on our ceremony yet... and I still need to decide what our RD is going to be like (slideshow? picture board? extra toasts?)

Also my super-bridesmaid who lives where my dress is said she would be available to go with me to learn how to bustle my dress... then she forgot and booked a trip to NYC for that weekend. Except it's the only weekend I have between now and the wedding to go pick up dress/learn bustle. So... we're just going to wing the bustle because all other bridesmaids are out of state and my mother isn't up for things like that.

Um... also parking. We know it's a 5 minute walk from the parking to the ceremony (it's in a field on the farm.) We decided to rent a golf cart to transport people who don't walk too well/don't want to walk, but now my DOC has me freaked out valet is the only option.

Other things abound. But it will get done, I am staying positive!

I think the golf cart is a good option.

Oh and a DOC.  I want to hire one, but don't know where to start.  I don't need a total professional, just someone who's familiar with weddings.  Someone to be in places when I wish I could be in two places at once.

My friends who would be fabulous for this job are bridesmaids.  So they'll be a little busy too.

Hmmm... I know some of the old knotties used to do it for each other, and I don't know of anyone off the top of my head other than Cara from A Southern Soiree. I think she's already booked, but she might have recommendations for you for others/where to start!

Mine is coming together, I have a master plan.

However, I'm about to quit my job because it has been going so awful lately and its literally makingme sick because I'm so unhappy.  No backup plans...think I need a career change, but don't know where to start!  Sucks with an expensive wedding./honeymoon right around the corner, that is basically already paid for...so there is extra stress, but I think once I actually hand in my resignation it will be less stress than I currently have because I shouldn't continue in a job that is making me so unhappy.

sorry for the bummer post, but as people who are planning weddings and spendng money right along with me, I felt like you all would be able to get my perspective on this one!!

Hi gals...October 16th bride here!  I don't get to post nearly as often as I would like but this post is helpful to see that so many of us are in the same boat.  In my mind, all of the big stuff is done but now final meetings with the vendors are happening: florist, church, reception venue (and final payments are due...not a fan of parting with the cash).  And my FI has been away for business for the past month and will be returning Friday..wooohooo

Beth, I hope that  your work plans/resignation pan out...stress from a horrible job can be unmeasurable...hopefully things will look up soon!

Beth, I know your job has been stressful for a while.  I think removing that stress from your life right now would probably be good.  I know that not having income can be stressful too, though.  That's a tough one.

Good luck for all of you that are getting married this Fall. So exciting!

Beth - I had a job that was really awful and one day I reached my breaking point and had to leave.  Even after I quit I had nightmares about the job and my old boss for months to come. I was so lucky that I was offered a job the day after that one ended. I assume you could always do temp work while you decide what you want to do career wise. Some income is better than no income.

I have a few last minute small projects to do, I still haven't finished re-doing my programs, I've got them printed and cut, just need to assemble which is the easy part, I just need to get motivated. FMIL just got into town to "help" me with last minute projects, and I'll be honest, I think it would be easier for me if she didn't... :-/

Mary, I can be your DOC if you need, my sister is a planner, so I'll just bring her along too to help. lol

Beth, I'm in a similar boat. Sending you vibes!

Also Fall Foliage reports indicate not a whole lot of change is happening yet. So late-October brides like myself can rest a little easier. It's not earlier than usual, I was just panicking. :)

I think that the pretty colors would be a bonus...I am just ready for it to not be so hot and humid.  We picked October since we thought that it would be cooler...come ON mother nature!
