Flowers by Design OR Fishhawk Weddings???

Hello ladies! I had two very good consultations with Jamie at Flowers by Design and Stephanie Fishhawk Weddings. Now, I have to choose!! Jamie is cheaper, but I get the feeling that Stephanie is more modern and fresh. I am primarily using them for the boquets, corsages and bouts, along with pipe & draping. Maybe some centerpieces, but I am doing most of them myself.

Opinions?? Anything is welcome, but especially if you used Jamie before and had draping done!

Thanks! :)

I met with Stephanie even though we didn't book her she seemed amazing! Her ideas were fresh and modern and her work speaks for herself. I wish I could have afforded to have her and get all the flowers we needed within our budget.

I didn't meet with Fishhawk, but I can tell you that Jamie is wonderful!  I booked her for my March wedding and she totally got my vision and provided me with plenty of options as well on budget!

I've booked with Jamie, but beware her communication is piss piss poor. Stephanie came in at more than twice the price but was so, so, so sweet and helpful and communicative.

As for Jamie, she's a horticulturalist and her costs are low because of this, which is AWESOME because man does she know her flowers! I didn't get the impression she wasn't modern, but we told her what we want exactly. Still, she did come back with good suggestions, so if there's something you see that you want, show her and I'm sure she can replicate it.

Maybe it's a case of going with the less expensive Jamie and having to spend some more time digging through bridal mags/sites to pull together examples v. going with the more expensive Stephanie and having it all handed to you. Whatever's more important to you.

If you're judging by their Websites, I wouldn't. The way a person markets themselves doesn't lend itself to how good a florist they are. It just means they've hired a good web designer and marketing person!Laughing

    Good luck!

When I was looking at flowers, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do.  I met with a few (including Stephanie) and she gave me such great ideas.  She knew exactly what I wanted even when I didn't.  And although she was over our budget, I still decided to go with her.  She is amazing, and she prepared a sample centerpiece for us that blew everyone in my family away.  I cannot wait for May to get here!!

That being said, if I had waited a while, I probably would have had a better idea of what I wanted anyway (from the magazines, blogs and endless info available on the web).  If the buget is super tight, I'd go with what you can afford and be clear about what you want.  If I had waited, I probably would have been more comfortable going with someone less "creative and fresh" because I would have brought the "creative and fresh".  Smile  I hope that makes sense.

I know Stephanie works within budgets very well.  Agree on a design and ask her what flowers you can substitute to get the same look and feel, but within your budget.  I've found her super nice and willing to work with me.

I used Fishhawk Weddings, and they did a beautiful job on my reception.  They were extremely friendly, had great communication and worked with my budget.  They did a nice job incorporating my ideas and creating the look I was going for.

Thanks so much everyone!! I ended up booking Jamie at Flowers by Design. She was able to give me the designs and flowers I wanted at 1/2 the price of FIshHawk. Plus, FH was going to charge me a crazy holiday uupcharge since my wedding is NYE. $600 for delivery, design and set-up alone (that doesn't even include any flowers)!!

So, I'm just crossing my fingers the response time with Jamie will remain consistent! I def appreciate all the opinions! :)

I know that some people have said that Jamie's communication hasn't been the best, bu I have to say so far she has been very quick to respond back to me.  I have no worries she will do a great job!
