Check--- Invites mailed today! (& some advice)

Such a relief to finally have those done and mailed at the post office today.
Only 60 days to go!

For those of you who haven't done your invites yet--and especially for those who are using pocketfolds and planning on mounting your invite to the inside, here's a little advice...

1) After trying many different ways to adhere the invites to the pocketfold, (double-sided 3-M tape, glue squares, scrapbook adhesive, etc.), the thing that worked the BEST was Elmer's Rubber Cement, ($4-bottle from Wal-Mart).  I recommend that you put some newspaper underneat where you're mounting these and only use the rubber cement sparingly--a very thin layer.  Then after mounting a few, lie something heavy, (like textbooks), on top of them and let them sit for an hour or two.  I did about a dozen at a time this way on my dining room table.  This works perfectly and the corners do not peel up.  I had a plastic 6" ruler that I used to smooth each one down after placing the glued invite to the pocketfold.  Just be sure to put only a THIN layer of adhesive and you'll be all set.

2) Do not underestimate the time that it will take to assemble and address your invites.  Because we used dark (navy blue) envelopes, I hand-addressed each one using a Pentel silver gel pen, (including the return address on the back of the main envelope), and the addresses for all of the return envelopes for the RSVP cards.  It took me about three days to get all the envelopes hand-addressed, (I was using a ruler to measure and draw thin pencil lines to keep them looking straight and evenly spaced).  Then it took me about 2 1/2 days to do all of the adhesive mounting and assembly of the insert cards, followed by putting the stamps on the RSVP and main envelopes.  I kept procrastinating thinking that I had so much time, but in the end--it really was a crunch to get these ready to go by the 8-week mark.

3) One more tip...I advise that you write a number, (lightly in pencil), on the back lower corner of your RSVP cards and then keep a log of who this goes to in a notebook or sheet of paper that you keep.  This is just in case someone returns the RSVP card but forgets to put their name on it, (heard from gals on other boards that this sometimes happens).

Anyway....now on to working on those questionnaires for the JP so that we can finish writing our ceremony....then to pick music for the reception.  So excited that the shower is in less than two weeks!
