My DJ...

My DJ called me today to say he didn't like the review I left him on weddingwire & wanted me to change it so that it was more positive!  I thought that's what reviews were for?  Aren't you supposed to give your honest opinion?  I didn't give him a terrible grade, just not super glowing reviews.

Wow! That's interesting. I don't think you should change your review.

Wow...some vendors just KILL me Jen!  And then the nerve to call you and ask you to change his review.

Ummmm maybe hello Jen how are you today I would like to ask you a few questions on you likes and dislikes pertainging to the services I provided for your wedding?  Hello that sounds a little better...dontcha think?

This is what the review said... I gave them a 4.6 out of 5
We originally chose Delite Entertainment because we were looking for someone who would sing/play the guitar (in the likes of John Meyer, DMB) for a while, then DJ for a while. Delite Entertainment seemed like they had just the person to meet our needs. We wanted him to play live during the ceremony, during dinner & for the important dances. Then DJ for the party part of the reception.
About a month before the wedding, we got a call saying the guy we hired no longer worked for the company but they had someone else to play/sing & we would also have a DJ. They were very professional about it and felt comfortable with the change.
The day of the wedding, I didn't notice the guitarist hardly at all. I don't recall him playing any of the songs we requested, although he may have. I asked our guests if they remembered hearing specific songs, but they didn't remember either. I was expecting more of a laid back acoustic sound, but he was playing an electric guitar. He was good, just not what I was expecting.
The DJ was good too. Everyone was up dancing and having a good time, even our grandparents :) (My grandmother is 86) We were very specific that we didn't want any of the cheesy dance songs played (like the YMCA, etc), but he still played them. Our guests were dancing to those songs, so I guess that was okay but I was a little put off that he didn't follow our requests.

Yeah, some nerve.  I probably wouldn't change it.  You gave an honest review.

Yeah, the whole point of those wedding reviews is for BRIDES to know everything candid about vendors.
Thats definitely candid, and not even bad. You gave a good rating!
Very unfair of the vendor to ask you that!

I would not change it. That is the point of a review. Think about it from the point of when you were looking for a vender would you have preferred the bride change it to suit the vender or have been honest with their review to help a future customer decide who to choose?

The nerve of them!  Your review seemed fair and it wasn't detrimental to their business.  I wouldn't change it, especially if I was a bride looking at their business, I would want to know that.

The only thing I might change is the very last sentence.  My guests did request the cheesy line dances & they were dancing & having a good time, so I guess I can't be too put off by his song selections.

wow, i am always shocked when vendors (or anyone else in the service industry) responds to bad reviews with a put out attitude.  I agree with Julie, where is the questions about why their service could have been better and what could have been done....
