Involving younger cousins?

Hi Everyone,

I am the oldest grandchild in my family (I'm 25) and have cousins ranging from the age of 21 to 3. There's a total of 10 cousins (but 4 cousins may not make it-- the oldest ones due to some family drama-- our mothers are not speaking.)

As the oldest, I've always felt very maternal towards my cousins but because there's so many of them, and I wanted a simple small bridal party, I've chosen not to include them in the bridal party.

That being said, I'm trying to figure out a way to involve them, especially the little ones to help them feel involved and part of my big day.  I was thinking of calling them all up for a special cousins dance during the reception but am very open to suggestions.

Basically we have a very big but fractured Italian American family and I think it would mean so much to them, and to me to do something special for just them.  Any ideas?

Thanks, ladies!

Re: Involving younger cousins?

  • What about asking some of them to be ushers, readers, or to pass out programs at your ceremony. That might be a good way to easily include a lot of people of different ages.

  • The littlest ones- 3 years to like, 7 years- may not be able to do much, aside from handing out programs or greeting everyone with big smiles.

  • I think the cousin dance sounds nice. Very low involvement, no organization of people, low stress, and possible low drama!
