Hard Rock Cafe, Boston

Have any of you lovely Knotties ever attended a wedding at the Hard Rock Cafe in Boston? I'm planning a non-traditional wedding (I'm getting married in a 50s swing dress and custom Converse chucks...) so it seems pretty perfect, but I was wondering if any one can shed some light on the reality rather than the fantasy that's currently in my head.

I've had the food there... at both a work function and once for a late night dinner (after drinking all day) and both times the food was not good. It's not terrible but it' certainly not yummy. I haven't been in about 6 months so I'm not sure if they've improved themselves any though.

IMO, there are better places in the city for a non-traditional reception.

I'm flying out for the summer on wednesday and will be in MA for two days, so I've convinced the boy that we need to go on a reconnaissance mission on Thursday. I will be jet-lagged and grumpy, so if it makes me happy then we're on to a winner. If not, we'll keep on hunting. The food was the thing worrying me - I've only been to a Hard Rock Cafe once, in Niagara Falls, and the food was only so-so there... I come from a foodie family so whilst to me there are more important things (music and the feel of a place), the food still needs to be good.

I agree with october on the food...it's so-so and a chain restaurant - it shows in their service the same way. Personally, it wouldn't be my first choice for a non-traditional wedding reception location...I'd keep looking, there are so many options in Boston.

rather than the hard rock... what about something like the beehive?  it's a really cool space and could be the type of unique venue you're looking for.  plus they have really good food.

    ...hello out there!

What about Jillian's... it is certainly non-traditional (it's a multi-level bar and bowling alley) and a lot of fun. The food and drinks are also great for it being a bar type place.

I've been to non-traditional weddings at the House of Blues Boston and the bar, The Living Room and both were pretty great (both experience and food).  If you are checking out a few different venues, you may want to look at their websites.

    Good luck planning!

I second the house of blues. My fiance's company holiday party was there and I thought the food and service was good.
Definitely a non-traditional venue worth checking out IMO.
