Louisiana-New Orleans

Looking for unique venues in NOLA or Baton Rouge

Looking for a unique space for a wedding reception and possibly a ceremony as well.  Looking NOT to spend a fortune.  Places that I've seen so far that look different are the Shaw Center in downtown BR, Chicory in NOLA, the Founary in NOLA, and the New Orleans Museam of Art.  Anyone have any experience with these places or any information on them?  Other venue suggestions are welcomed as well.  I was hoping to stay around $20,000 but from the research I've done it seems as though that is nearly impossible for a nice NOLA or BR wedding.  HELP!!!

How many people are you looking to have at your wedding?  Have you looked at Race and Religion in the Warehouse District or the Federal Ballroom?  Others have said really good things about the wax musueum.  You might also want to check the House of Blues.

Our wedding was at the Musee Conti Wax Museum.  We loved it!  It's unique and has so much character.  Depending on your guest list, you shouldn't have a problem staying under your budget there.

Both of the steamboats (Natchez and Creole Queen) have wedding packages.  The Natchez is very budget friendly but better for a smaller wedding (<75 people).

Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.

We will probably have at a minumum 250 ppl, maybe more. That is my problem.  All of the places that I love don't seem to accomodate more than 200 or 250 people!

You could also try Gallier Hall. It's a beautiful building, the rental fee is not expensive and you have to bring in your own catering, but could be a good option if you want to stay within your budget. I am not sure about the capacity though....

The Riverview Room, 4th floor of Jackson Brewery.

I contacted them via email, and am looking for a smaller site, the contact was kind enough to let me know they were to large for our number, and suggested a couple of other places. Definitely worth the time to email.
