walking down the aisle

OK so both of my parents are walking me down the aisle. What side do each of them stand on, and when the pastor asks "who gives this bride, etc" who says what and all that??

  • I think it's really up to you.  My dad was all about "his line" so we had our pastor ask "who blesses and supports this marriage?" and my dad responded on behalf of all 4 parents, "Their parents do."
  • I am also having both parents walk me down, I never really though of what side they would stand on. But I'm not having the Priest even ask who gives me away, I give myself to my FI, not my parents. I say do whatever you are comfortable doing.

    I like that
  • I like the " their parents do" it includes everyone.

When my friend got married her mother and father both walked her down and they just said "we do" together in unison.
When another friend got married her father and step father walked her down and when asked they looked at each other and pointed to one another and said he does. It was cute and showed the laid back personalities.

  • I'm not having the priest say that part. My parents don't own me and are thus not giving me away. I'm having my dad on my right and my mom on my left but I don't think it really matters.
