Facewash/moisturizer recommendations?

I'm looking for an inexpensive (i.e. sold at Walmart or similar) face cleansing system to deal with my skin.  It is both oily and dry, not like a normal T-zone, but my whole face is dry and tight with a layer of oil on top.  Right now it is flaking but I still have a zit on my nose, and in the summer it doesn't flake as much but I break out a lot more.  It's so weird to have dry, flaking skin with zits.

Right now I use proactiv to deal with the acne, but I only wash my face once or twice a week because otherwise it gets way too dry.  I use Proactiv cleanser and oil-free moisturizer, because using the whole system makes my face burn.  My whole face keeps flaking no matter how much moisturizer I use.

    You need to stop using proactiv.  That ish is harsh. 

    Also, the boards are slow.  Hit post once and it'll go through.

    Yeah I realized that after the fact.  I would hit "post" and the page would refresh showing no post, so I would try to make a new one.   Then half an hour later all my posts showed up :(

    I want to stop using the Proactiv but I need to replace it with something else before my acne flares up again.  I just don't know what to buy.

    Have you tried cetaphil?  I have combo skin like yours as well (dryness is all over, but you still break out) and I've found that my acne flare ups actually get worse when my skin is dried out, particularly when I use harsh cleansers on it.  Proactiv is very harsh, and it made me break out more than it helped me.  I wash with Cetaphil daily, and use a lemon sugar scrub once a week to exfoliate.  I've been doing this for about 3 months now, and my skin is clearer than ever before.

    PS.  The lemon sugar scrub trick (literally just lemon juice and sugar on a cotton ball) I learned from Kandee Johnson.  If you've never checked her out, she has a slew of helpful beauty and makeup videos on Youtube.

    BTW, there are a ton of threads on adult acne and sensitive skin product recommendations, so you should search.

    Cerave or Cetaphil. Maybe you can use them for a few days to give your skin a chance to calm down, then alternate Proactiv. I'm not a dermatologist, but that would be my tack.

    And get yourself a fantastic moisturizer like Origins A Perfect World collection. You can find it on Amazon.com for cheaper than in the stores, but no -- it's not cheap.

    My daughter has acne with combination skin and her dermatologist recommended Cetaphil.  Proactive did not work for her and in fact made things worse.

    I hadn't heard of Cetaphil before but I'll pick some up at Walmart on the way home tonight.  Thanks for the advice :)
