Any Mexico All-Inclusive Ideas?

Hello,

My fiance and I are barely trying to pick out our honeymoon destination. He really wants to go to a nice beach in Mexico. We would love to find a great all inclusive hotel so that we dont have to worry about constantly carrying cash with us. Have any of you ladies been to a place that would be a good honeymoon location? Ive looked at places along Playa del Carmen and Manzanillo but when I look at the reviews of these places they dont seem very good. If any of you ladies have any suggestions please let me know Oh were also want to plan it for May the week before Memorial Day.

We've been to real resorts The Royal Cancun and loved it! We are heading back this year. I have a review and pics in the link above my siggy pic if you would like to check it out. HTH

Check out the Valentin Imperial Maya. They're very well priced, highly rated and a beautiful location. Plus they're within reasonable distance to many excursion sites in the area!

We stayed at the RIU Palace Riviera Maya. It is a more reasonably priced All Inclusive. It is a resort as well. It is not adults only but if you are going at the end of April most schools will not be out yet so there will be pretty much no kids.

The reason I think you would enjoy the RIU Palace is because it is a 5-10 minute walk either down the beach or down a really nice street to the 5th Avenue in Playa Del Carmen. We were able to hang out in Playa Del Carmen or go into Playa for public transportation (Busses, Collectivo's) to get to other things like parks or excursions like XPlor, Xel-Ha and Xcaret. You could also take the Collectivo all the way down to Tulum and back.
We really loved the location and how accessable it was. We were not dependent on shuttles or Taxi's but if we wanted to we could always get a taxi as well and we did a couple of times (but we always negotiated the price!).
The other nice thing about the RIU was that they are located in an area of Playa Del Carmen called Playacar which is very secure. Even Taxi's and Shuttles going in and out have to get permission and show the security guards their badges and ID cards. It made us feel very safe considering we had never been to Mexico before.

I had friends stay at the Riu in Cabos and they couldnt have had a better time!

I stayed at the Rui in playa del Carmen, too. We had a great time, our room was huge and the resort was very pretty. The great part about this was that the Riu had 3 hotels on the same street and you could go to the different hotels and drink for free too because of your wrist band.

I've stayed at the Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Playa del Carmen. It was a fantastic value for a week all inclusive. We got it for approx $1200/person. The beach was great, the nightly entertainment was fantastic. There was construction there when I went (nov 2010) for a couple restaraunts and the kid's play area, but that should be done by now. The buffet was fantastic. It was about a ten minute cab ride in the city. Security was great, it and two other resorts are behind a huge gated wall with a security guard. You check out when you go to town, and check back in when you come back.

Would definitely stay there again!

Yes, most resorts do. This one had a gate at the resort entrance as well as the entrance to the neighborhood, which is called Playacar.

yes i know. there are many hotels and resorts in playacar as well as neighborhoods and vacation rental houses. but my reason in writing that was because it's not a unique situation to have a security booth outside of the resort-just for the OP's knowledge :)

Haven't been to Mexico yet, but our travel agent just got us a great deal at the Ocean Coral & Turquesa for May 30-June 5 in Riviera Maya. Can't wait!

Stay at the Royal in Playa Del Carmen! Beautiful resort and GREAT location. You are right across the street from the main tourist strip. Lots of unique bars and shops, just footsteps away. We walked 10 minutes down the strip to the ferry and spent a day in Cozumel. $5 minutes from the Tulum Ruins and 45 minutes from Cancun. 10 minutes from teh adventure park Xcaret. Lot's of food choices and there is a sister resort next door, that allows you to visit their restaraunts.
