Another lovely invitation dilemma

Sooooo here is another crappy situation!! Why can't everyone just stay dating!! lol

So Marcus = groomsman
Marcus was dating Kirstie (for like 3 years or more)

Paula = Friend & ex-coworker of FI
Paula = Kirstie's mom

Our invite list was
Marcus & Kirstie
Mr. & Mrs. Paula's Husband + their son  (so basically Kirstie's whole family)

Now Kirstie and Marcus are no longer dating. So she would be dropped from Marcus's invite. However her parents and brother are still invited. We were really only inviting the brother to not leave him as the only one not invited (I think he is a freshman maybe?). So now we're stuck with the wondering do we still invite Kirstie and attach her to her parents? Not invite her at all? Drop her brother from Mr & Mrs. Paula's Husband even though he was listed on the STD envelope?

I do not know the story behind the break up. And they have been broken off for like two weeks now. I realize they could get back together but unless they do it before I have to send out invites in a week and a half I have to make a decision

    Personally, I would just address the invite to the whole family. It seems like it would be awkward to leave her out completely and taking her brother off at this point would be confusing. I think that will save you a lot of frustration no matter what hers and Marcus' relationship status is in March.

    ii will be breaking rules then because i am only sending one invite to one houuse hold even if they have older kids still living with them it will be addressed to mr and mrs and family.  everyone i know does it this way as well.

    The problem with and family is it's ambiguous. You may wind up with uninvited guests because of who people consider "family".

    Thank you HobokenBride.  I was going to post about anyone over 18 receiving their own invitation.  I currently have 2 aunts and 3 cousins (all over 18) living under one roof - they are all getting seperate invites.

    I had this same issue with my family.  Aunt, Uncle and 3 cousins (all over 18) all live in the same home.  I think I am sending ONE invitation labeled  Mr and Mrs and Family and inserting an extra RSVP card for the kids.  I am close with them, so I am just going to give them a heads up.  I think it's pointless to send 3 whole invitations! They will most likely be trashed right away and I could use them to send to other guests.

    I have a cousin who is married and lives and my uncle & aunts house. They got their own invitation but it is going in the same envelope. :)
