Trash the dress photo shoot vs preserving the dress

I recently told a family member that I am planning on doing a TTD photo shoot after the wedding and the only thing she said was "What do you plan on doing with the photos once your dress is trashed?".... My plan is to do the same thing with the TTD photos as I would the ceremony/other photos....Most of them will go into an album, the rest will be framed and hung. I'll admit, I'm not going to look at the album and pics every day or even every month. I might look at the album every year around our anniversary but I would get more use out of a TTD photo shoot than I would actually keeping the dress I mean, what am I going to do with the dress after the wedding? Wear it every year? Keep it in a box and look at it less often than I do the photo album?

Are you TTD or preserving it? If you're TTD, what will you do with the photos? If you're preserving the dress, what are your plans for the dress?

We did a TTD.  LOVE the photos and plan to put them in an album.  We're big photo people so having cool photos far outweighed keeping a dress that would simply take up closet space.  I haven't had that much time to think, but if I keep the dress, I will have it cut into a shorter evening gown and dyed.  If I don't, I plan to donate / sell it for charity.

TTD all the way...the dress will just sit in a closet till MAYBE your Daughter will want to use it but at that point...she may not want to.

I am having a seamstress cut mine and make it a shorter party dress... My dress is ivory and black so it will look awesome. And with the extra material Ill have her make a baby sized dress to give to either my daughter or if I dont have daughters one of my sisters daughters ... So if you decide to TTD thats awesome Everyone should do what they feel is best for them.

I started calling our sessions Rock the Dress, because it certainly isn't trashed after each shoot. In one case our bride took hers into a salt water pool and her martini stain came out of the dress from our time in the water!

I want to save it for my future daughter or repurpose it.

We are wanting to do a trash the dress and actually totally trash it!  We are big into quadding/dirtbiking so we'd love to do it where we get completely muddy somehow.  My mother is totally against the idea of ruining my dress though, so we're not sture if we will buy a second dress to ruin for the photos.  I don't see the point in keeping my wedding dress so I would like to use it, but we would like to keep a scrap piece of the dress for our wedding album or to sew into a quilt.  For our guest book instead of a traditional guest book, we are thinking about having them sign fabric and getting my FIancé's grandma to sew a quilt with them and our wedding colours, and then scraps of the dress in it as well (have to find the right dress first though!).

Trash the dress looks so fun!  We can't wait!
