Gay friendly vendors

I know its a divisive issue, and I really dont want to start a 'liberals versus conservatives; flame war here, but I am curious - would you be more inclined to use the services of same -sex marriage -friendly venues and vendors? A friend of mine in Chicago is getting married, and will ONLY use vendors that support same-sex marriages.

Re: Gay friendly vendors

  • I think you should go with whatever vendors you feel comfortable with and who is going to create your vision...not to mention stick within your budget.  however, if the cause is close to your heart and you wan to support something then by all means fly your flag and make yourself happy.  It's your day and you can do whatever you want!!

  • Thanks for the reply, Katie, but I know where I stand, it was more of a question for YOU and the other brides... think of it as a social experiment
  • I read this post last night while I was answering and making posts and decided to have wait until the morning to answer it. Personally, I agree with Katie entirely. FI and I have selected our vendors based on the connection and undersanding, communication, ability of creating our vision, and of course, budget. To me, these are the most important factors I consider in booking any potential vendors.

Now, regarding the decision of choosing vendors who support same-sex marriage is a bit tough. The only way to find out if a vendor is for or against same-sex marriage to ask them down right and hope to get an honest answer in return (whether they do or don't). Personally, I support it and would only turn away a vendor if he/she has something against gay people. I have close gay family members and friends and I wouldn't feel comfortable having such vendor involved in my wedding. If a vendor is against same-sex marriages then I don't expect to change their views by expressing my own to him/her. However, if I would book such vendor then I would expect them to treat all my guests, gay or not, the same courteous way and make sure they are enjoying themselves.
