Picnic Tables

Our venue includes 45 picnic tables inclusive.  I know picnic tables aren't the most ideal for guests, especially those in dresses and nicer clothing, but I can't justify the cost of $10/table and then $1/chair to do it another way.  Should I just suck it up and pay for normal tables?  Or are the picnic tables ok if I keep them at 6/table.

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Re: Picnic Tables

  • I think picnic tables would be really cute actually. Just put linens on them so they don't look messy and decorate as usual.
  • Picnic tables can work, but it really depends on the *feel* that you're trying to achieve.  They can look very cute and be decorated very tastefully.

Don't try to make them not look like picnic tables (because they are).

Are they wood?  If so, you might consider getting something to place over the benches to keep your guests clothing from snagging on splinters.

  • The reception will be held outside in their reception area.  The area will be covered by a pavillion.  The tables will be picnic tables.  They decorate the head table for us using multicolored materials.  That leaves me needing to decorate about 9 tables.  7 for our guests to be seated at and 1 for gifts and 1 for the guest book, etc. I need a picnic table for the reception in and around new york. If any one has the ideas can share with me.

My venue has only picnic tables to offer, but they are hand made log cabin style. So kind of goes with the whole Jackson Hole theme. They provide white or brown linens, various napkins styles and burlap runners (and red lanters if wanted).  I feel bad that I don't have comfy lounge furniture to haul in, but we won't have any elderly folks (our parents are only 60 and under).  I just thought of something yesteday - what does the venue provide for booster seats or high chairs, because we'll have 25 kids!  Here are some of my inspirations:

  • My location has picnic tables and i plan on just dressing up the tables and probably making cushions so they wont be so hard when people sit down.
