How did you pick your date?

I'm just curious how everyone here picked their date...is it a meaningful date, or just one that was available?

for me and FI, June 2, 2007 was when we started dating. June 2, 2012 was when he proposed, it only makes sense to us that June 2, 2013 is when we get married

I just like hearing how people choose their dates... like one of my friends chose her date because she always dreamed of getting married in August, so they went with the first available Saturday lol

Our anniversary is June 27th but next year it falls on a Thursday

So we decided to have our wedding on a Saturday...June 15th seemed like a good place

I always wanted a June wedding and I thought 6/7/13 would be easy fo my FI to remember but it fell on a Friday. So we then decided on the 8th but the venue we wanted was already booked so we ended up going with the 15th.

Well we wanted April 27th originally, it's 5 years since the day we met and its a saturday. BUT the venue we loved is only open in May. We then wanted May 25th, then it booked before the church would get back to us sooo the next available date was the 8th :-p funny how it all works out

I am a teacher so we knew we wanted a summer wedding and June 2013 would give us plenty of time to save. When looking at Saturdays in June 2013, I liked the 29th for some reason, it sounds weird saying it now, but it "felt right". When I told my parents, my dad started getting emotional which was a little weird... Turns out that June 29th is my grandpa's birthday. He passed away 2 years ago and lived with us for a long time before that. Dad said that Grandpa would have loved for us to share our day with him since he loved FI. My grandpa and I always used to have "talks" where he would give me advice; I'd like to think that the 29th "felt right" because Grandpa was still giving me his approval.

My FI works in the oil field and has a two weeks on, two weeks off schedule. We wanted to get married in the spring, and we had to pick the first weekend he was home. So that left us with May 4th, June 8th or July 6th. It rains in May and it's hot in July, so it was an easy pick!

FI wanted June, I wanted October, and I let him win. October weather in NY is unpredictable, but June is always nice. Actually, he ended up wanting May 25th and I wanted June 1. In our town where we're getting married there are festivals almost every weekend and May 25th is the National Lake Trout Fishing Derby. We didn't want to compete with that, so we went with June 1st since it doesn't look like there's anything planned that weekend for our town. FI also kind of wanted June 8th, but the local college is holding their reunion that weekend and I vetoed that and we went with June 1st!

I'm also in the teaching field, and we picked our date in the hopes that I would have a steady teaching job. I don't currently, still hoping something comes up for the fall. But we picked 6-29-13 because it would give us time to save, and if I was teaching, I would have a few days off at the end of the school year for last inute things and then plenty of time for the honeymoon. I originally was thinking August, since our 9 year anniversary will be Aug 9, 2013. But my parents talked us out of it because of the weather, it's really hot a humid, hurricane season, and my dad said June is a great month to get married and a popular one. FI was fine with whatever, so that's how I picked.

We knew we'd have a ton of people travelling from out of the country, and wanted a wedding in June. It just happens that the 2 countries where the most people are travelling from (Ireland & Germany) have public holidays around the time of June 1, so we thought it would be more convenient.

I've always wanted a spring/early summer wedding. We were originially thinking May but since the prices are the same May or June we went with a less rainy month. The 8th was just anavailable date but we liked it a lot. The other venue we were looking at had the 15th available but we liked the 8th better (and the venue a lot more too).

I've always wanted a June wedding (my bday is June 21st) so I picked something that *should* be easy to remember and is far enough away from my bday so that it wouldn't be swallowed up by the nuptuals.. so we went with June 1st

We wanted 9/14 bc our dating anniversary is 9/13 and it is a gorgeous time of year in Wisconsin. But w school scheds and birthdays, we decided to have a summer wedding. It is waaaay to hot here in July and Aug so we picked June.

I actually wanted to get married in late May, but the date I wanted was taken. Our venue is pretty pricey, so we could only afford a Friday or Sunday. So we opted for the Friday, and went with 6/7/13. (6+7=13 teehee) Plus my mother really wanted me to be a June bride because she was. Silly mom.

I have a school age child, so we wanted a summer date so school wouldn't be an issue. July and August can get a bit too hot, so we went with June. Our venue only had the 15th and the 29th for Saturdays. We preferred Saturdays to make things easier on our large amount of OOT guests. We felt like the end of June was too close to July 4th, so the 15th it was!

I wanted to be married Friday, June 13, 2014 because we met on Friday the 13th and 13 and 31 are really lucky days for me and there is no 31 in June. But my FI wanted to get married a year sooner and he still wanted June because of his work and my daughter being home from college so when we moved it up a year we picked the 15th. Now, 15 will be a new lucky day for me!

Our families are from Iowa and Florida. We live in Texas. My parents are really weird about traveling and we had just finally talked them into coming to Texas next June for my youngest daughter's high school graduation. So we picked our weddding date June 14th 2013 to coinside with my daughter's graduation party. We're getting married Friday night and having her party Saturday night. This just saves my family time and money to do them both the same weekend.But this is going to be exhausting for me.

Before we got engaged I thought a fall September wedding would be pretty, but being in the teaching field as well, I didn't want to confuse my 4yr old kindergartners that on Friday I was Miss S and on Monday I am Mrs. G. Lol.

I picked June and the FI was okay with it. Then we discussed what weekends would be bad. June 2nd my MOH is in a wedding and June 15th is Father's Day weekend. So I gave him the choice of June 8 and June 29.. he picked the 29th which is a blessing because I can still teach 1st session of Summer School to keep me preoccupied half of my days leading up to the wedding. It also is my cousin's birthday (which I knew her bday was in June, just never realized it was the 29th) My birthday date is also the 29th, so I thought it would also be easy for the FI to remember we got married two months before my birthday! Lol.

I'm also hoping that some far away family members will be able to travel to the wedding since it's the weekend before 4th of July.

This is exactly why I wanted the 7th but FI refused to get married on a Friday. He's an engineer so he's always doing some kind of math in his head.

FI is still in school for his masters in psychology. He is done with school in late May, but it would be too stressful to cram everything in before Memorial Day, so we went with the next weekend. We chose Sunday June 2, 2013 because everything is less expensive, and my kids are out of school, so we can incorperate them into the last half of our honeymoon, 1/2 is just for us, and the other half is a family vacation.

We wanted the 13th, my bday is the 13th and so is FI's. We wanted a summer wedding and just decided that this was it. BUT.... we have been talking about moving it once again to 11-12-2013. It has just been talk for the past couple of weeks, but how cool would that be 11/12/13

I'm getting a kick out of reading about everyone's reasoning for picking their dates!!

My fiance is a teacher, so we knew we wanted to do a summer wedding. July and August around here can be miserably hot and humid, so we decided that June would be best. His last day of school next year should be June 7th, so initally we were going to aim for the 15th. Then he pointed out that the week leading up to the 15th is reserved for snow cancellation make up days. The last week of school is always hectic, and we didn't want to risk the last week possibly occurring during the week of our wedding. That left us with the 22nd and the 29th, and we just decided to go with the date that would come up first, so...the 22nd it is!!

For many reasons.

I've always wanted a June wedding, since it's not overly hot around that time. Also, where I want to get married is absolutely beautiful in June, with apple blossoms everywhere.

June also happens to be the month in between my birthday and his birthday, so I wanted somewhere in the middle.

In addition to that, I also went through the calendar and marked days/weeks I'd be on my period so picked dates that would be free of that lol

My FI is graduating from college in May and then going into the Air Force immediately after, so we had to squeeze the wedding in between the two. So June 15th it is!

I'm so excited! Plus the date just sounds good when you say it haha.
