Programs/Menus

Hi ladies, I'm just starting to look into my wedding programs and menus now, does anyone have any rec's for either?  I'm open to ordering them or DIY, also what is the average price for these things...this is one area where I feel totally lost!

  • I am starting to work on mine too.  I looked online at wedding paper divas where I got my invitations but they seem to be very expensive in my opinion.  I am actually going to go on etsy and pick a "printable file" and then print them at home.  Most of the files are between $10-25.  If you don't want to print them at home you can always print them on vistaprint.  They let you upload your own design and retailmenot.com usually has at least 50% coupons for them.

  • I designed my programs in PowerPoint and then printed them on Vistaprint.  I had a Living Social deal so I only ended up paying like $30-40 for them.

For menus I was going to do the same and eventually decided that while it was a nice to have it was just an added expense.  Turns out my venue provided them anyway and they were nice.

  • Before spending money on menus check with your venue. They may provide them. Ours did.

  • I did DIY to match our invitations (which were not DIY) and I loved how they came out... it was so much cheaper (I think menus, escort cards and programs were all $1-2 ea.) and not that difficult.  I ordered fancy paper from Cards & Pockets.

The ONLY thing is... give yourself LOTS of time.  It took time to print everything, cut the paper, glue it, etc.  The minute we finalized the menu I started on those (about 2 months out) as well as the programs.  It takes longer than you'd think.

  • I used Wiregrass Weddings (http://www.wiregrassweddings.com/) for my menus and matching table numbers.  We did not have programs, but they do everything.  They will custom design whatever you want and it is super affordable.  I think 150 menus were about $115.  They did as many proofs as I wanted before printing, and were incredibly fast once everything was approved.

  • We made our own program by creating a double sided 4.25 x 11 style.  It was super cheap to print at Kinko's bc we used black and white ink and opted for cream card stock.  I punched a hole in the top right corner and looped a piece of ribbon through.  Our venue printed the menus up for us.  I would check with your venue before you spend the money on them.

  • I just found out that my reception venue does not provide menus, it is a sit down dinner with a choice of four options, do you think I should DIY menu's or are the waiters verbally giving guests the options enough?
