Cost???

Hello all -

We are planning our wedding for August 5th in Floirda and hired a photographer.  Thus far, we do love him; however, his cost appears to be EXTRODINARY.  

What are some prives you paid for a good photographer?

    Cost varies by location. Not sure what the average is in Florida for a professional photographer, but in Atlanta it averages about 2k-5k for a professional wedding photographer. 

    How much are you paying him? And have you already signed and contract and given a deposit?

    I'm paying 5250 for mine and it is worth every cent to me.  Photographer for me is one of the most important vender for the day.  I could get married in a shack but I want to remember those moments forever and having pictures is one way to do that.  

    Most people will say that if they could go back they would have gotten a better photographer.  Also, I know some people that got an awful wedding photographer because they were cheap and never look at their pictures because it makes them sad. 

    That being said you can find some pretty good wedding photographers out there for a decent price range, but sometimes you have to dig.

    I hate to disagree with you but thats not always true.  If it is, then they might be just that... average... I'm not saying that there are not amazing photographers out there in that range but just be prepared because if you want amazing pictures it might cost more than that.

    I think rshatto is right, about the fact. I find "great photography" very subjective. It's really hard for me, as a non-photographer, to tell what's good and what's bad, just what I like.

    We budgeted $4,000 for photography early in planning, after looking at the websites of photographers who advertise on the wedding blogs I was reading. We found one for $1,000. We had our engagement shoot and our very happy.

    Photography wasn't a priority for us. The photographer was the second expense we booked, after the reception venue (Everything for the church and officiants is free.), and I was glad to start the planning significantly under-budget.

    The average cost for a wedding Photographer on The Knot is about $2000. I got this info from a marketing manager from the Knot when I set up my profile as a photographer. Since most of my work are portraits and I am building my wedding portfolio I range my cost from $1200 to $2700. So I am lowish to avg cost.
