Lots

my mom came in to town for the night yesterday and she got to spend some time with the FI and his kids, and my FMIL.  They all went out and we had some time to work on my wedding dress.  I was looking at some pics of it today and realized, what I see in the mirror and what I feel in the dress is totally different than what I see in the pictures.  I hate the pictures.  I look much bigger and awkward in the pictures.  It broke my heart.

However, mom and I drove to the casino where she's gotten us a suite for our one night honeymoon and looked at the room and casino....BREATHTAKING.  Better than we imagined.

Then we went to the reception site and got a lot of details hashed out.  Very productive 24 hrs, minus the I hate the way I look in my dress pictures.

Re: Lots

  • don't worry too much about the photos.  my mom took some of me in my dress with her iphone, and they made me look AWFUL due to lighting/positioning/angle, etc.  a professional photographer will make you look great. promise!

I had the same problem with  my dress. I thought I felt great, and then I thought I looked chunky in all my pictures (from a few months ago to show my bridesmaids) . When I took it to the seamstress this weekend, she's going to take it in a little bit (there's room) and I think it makes a world of difference. I'll find out in a few weeks when I get my dress back.

And I agree with the other poster, a professional photographer can work wonders with lighting and angles! :-)

  • Don't stress about the dress and how the pics looked.  A lot can be improved with the right angle.  There are lots of things you can do to improve how you look in a photo.  I pro photographer should be able to direct you and capture you looking your best :)

  • Your photographer will make sure you look excellent in your dress day-of. Please don't stress too much about it. I know that's easier said than done, just remember that on your wedding day, you will be so happy and radiant, THAT will come through in the pictures more than anything!

gotta love my FI...told him I hated how Iooked in the pictures mom took and he said, I"m sure it's just the pictures, but if you hate it that much get back on the diet...then he again said it was probably just the camera but w

e could both use to eat better.  Not sure if he was encouraging me or not LOL (just kidding...I've lost 50lbs in the last year and he's been nothing but supportive)
The DREDED picture...I look like I could be a line backer for the Buffalo bills
  • Your photographer will obviously be able to help you pose as well, but a suggestion that usually works well is to make sure you're never facing the camera straight on - always angle yourself slightly. If you make your feet into a 'T' shape before facing towards the camera (think left heel touching the arch of your right foot), then your hips will position themselves off centre, creating a less bulky appearance. Same thing with your shoulders - try and remember to angle them a bit if you can. Also, it's amazing the difference that making yourself stand up straight and pulling your shoulders back and your back straight can have in making you look slimmer.

great advice, thank you.  I think I will practice that during my FSD's graduation, I'm sure there will be a lot of pictures taken lol
  • Professional photographers will be able to pose you better.  One thing I remember from getting my photos taken was to anchor your weight on your back foot, as it will make you appear slimmer :)
