can you help me with my vows?

i posted this on the vows board but it's pretty inactive!!

i typed my vows into a word document adn just copy and pasted from there...hence the weird font.

David: you are my one and only, my first and last, my forever and always. I still can’t believe i get to spend the rest of my life with you. I don’t understand what you saw in me but i know it was something worth fighting for. You pursued me and that’s how i know this marriage will be great...you continue to make me feel wanted and special. So on this day, exactly 4 years after our first off campus but unofficial date i make these vows to you. I vow to honour and be faithful to you for the rest of our lives. I vow to make our home a place you are sorry to leave. To put your needs above my own and fully support you in everything you do. I vow to never take you for granted and to continue saying i love you every day.



i'm not sure if these vows are special enough or long enough...i don't know if i should put funny things in like "i vow to always put your clothes away for you becuase we both know you won't".

    I think those are really nice. You've put your own spin on the traditional vows. I always look for some wording of faithfulness, selflessness and forever and you have those. The length is good. You don't want to have them too long or they get hard to get through (especially if you're emotional like me) and IMO silly vows take away from the solemnity of the moment. You want your H (and everyone else) to know you're serious about the vows you're making. If you want to add anything silly, do it before you get to the actual vows part.  I'm guessing based on your SN that your FI is in the navy and that's why he would be leaving. You might work that in somehow in case any guest doesn't know (unless he's wearing his dress uniform for the wedding). Overall, very nicely worded. If you're having a church wedding you might need to run them by your officiant.

    what is a SN?  He isn't in the navy at all!  Just an exciting environnmental technology job!!
    we are meeting with our pastor so he can approve them.

    Your SN is your screen name. Lol, when I looked at yours I saw a blending of Christina and adding the vy from navy and thought maybe you or your fi was in the navy. When reading through your vows it made sense that a military career would take him from home and he'd be sorry to leave.  I was reading the "making our home a place you are sorry to leave" as in leaving for an extended period. I hope that all makes sense. It's hard to explain how the mind works sometimes.

    nope, i got it!  vy is my middle and last initial:) 

    we both like a quote that said "let the wife make the husbnad glad to come home and let him make her sorry to see him leave"
    i kind of adapted it for us.
