payment for photographer

Is it typical that photographers do not accept credit cards for payments?

It makes sense to me since they are not a big business, but I heard you should always put your deposit down on credit cards just in case something happens to them in the future.

Any thoughts? Should I worry or am I over-thinking it?

I think this is typical for a lot of vendors. My photographer was cash or check only, my venue is check only, and my musicians are cash only. I would read some reviews to make sure this is something you can trust and take a look at those contracts.

I think this is standard for most wedding photographers because they are such small (one ore two person) businesses.  This is what I do and I've never had any issues come up about it.  If your photographer is truly a professional and you've seen their work and trust them, then I don't think you have anything to worry about.  One thing you may want to consider if you're still concerned about is is if the deposit is deemed "non-refundable," then you may want to think it over for a litlle longer (but don't wait too long, bucause if you do love that particular photographer you want to be sure to get your date reserved!!)

I don't think you can advertise for your own business on here...

If you write them a check, make sure it is made out to the business name and get a receipt.

If you are giving anyone cash make sure they give you receipt.
