Bridal Shower Venue

I'm the MOH is my BF's wedding this summer. I'm looking for a venue for the shower about 50 people, kid friendly on the north shore. Anyone have any inexpensive suggestions? Also, how long before the wedding should I hold the shower? TIA

I had two showers (1 at my parents' house out of state and 1 that DH's family hosted). I got married in June and the one at my parents' house was in April and the one thrown by DH's family was in early May. I think the usual is about 2 to 3 months before the wedding.

For your venue question is there a max $ amount you want to spend total (or a max per person $ amount)?

We don't have a budget yet for the shower because we don't really know what is reasonable. We were even thinking outdoor.

I had my shower (for my October 10th wedding) in mid-August, I think the 14th. It was held in the backyard of one of my bm's and was fantastic. She's does catering on the side so she took care of all of the and then rented a tent and tables and chairs. There were about 40 people there I believe.

I'd check out Cafe Escadrille in Burlington, MA.  My friend did a baby shower there and it was perfect!  They did brunch and it was very kid friendly.  They are a very popular venue for showers.  Not sure on pricing though.

I would say that the shower is generally 2-3 months before the wedding.  Mine was at the end of February for my April 24th wedding.

I don't know if this is too far away but you should check out some of the places in Gloucester. A lot of them are right on the water and are really pretty on a sunny day- great for a brunch type of shower. My mom is planning mine at The Rudder. They have a really nice back deck thats got a view of a cove. Great food too!  Some other good places are The Gloucester House and The Seaport Grill. Good luck!

I had my sisters baby shower and bridal shower at the Danversport Yacht Club.  Very easy to work with and very reasonable prices.
