Would you participate?

I keep going back and forth regarding DIY photo booths. I saw an idea from another knottie that I really liked-- she had a really ornate frame that the guests held up in front of them and also provided them with vintage props like handle bar mustaches on sticks, boas, hats, etc. I thought that I could do this to go with our Victorian theme without spending a ton of money or taking up a lot of time to make. My question is, if you went to a wedding with something like this, what would you think? Would you use it at all? I don't want to do it if the guests wont utilize it or think it is too cheap.

I would participate if I was a guest at a wedding, but I answered other because as a bride, I would think about how much you have on your plate and how big of a project it may turn in to.  Also, figuring out how or who will take the photos is something else that would need to be figured out.  For me, being that I have a ton on my plate I wouldn't want to mess with it, and I wouldn't know who to have taking the photos, nor would I want to just have cheapo disposable cameras sitting there or leave a digital camera for guests to just use so that would be a big deciding factor as well.

I have been to 2 weddings that have had these and I participated both times.

I would say that placement of the photo booth and getting your DJ to announce that it is there is KEY! Having it placed in a high traffic area and having the DJ make multiple announcement made it really popular at one wedding. The other wedding did not do this and it was not used as much but the people that did use it seemed to have fun!

The weddings I've been at lately have all had some kind of photobooth and it's been a huge hit. Last wedding I was at it was almost TOO used! The dance floor was empty because everyone was in line to take their pictures! We're not having one though, didn't want to mess it with for my wedding.

I'm having one.  (I actually bought debbieupper's photo wall).  I've never been to a reception with one but I really wanted to rent one but the price was too much.  One of my BM's was psyched when I showed it to her, she said her cousin had one and it was a huge it.

I'm still throwing around the idea of having a photobooth, but I think if you know your guests, it should be easy to guess if they will like it or not. I know I would definitely use it! I haven't been to a wedding with one, but I have been to a work event that had one and it was so much fun!

I saw pictures from a wedding once where they had a really large frame that guests held up in front of them for the picture. It looked like they had their photographer carry it around to each table (must have been some time during dinner) and then everyone from the table stood up and got in the frame and the photog took a couple pictures. It was super cute.

<div>Yeah! Ours was a huge hit, and I agree with PP that it's key for someone to announce it. I think it would also help if you could hang up a black cloth backdrop so it looks more like a dedicated photo area.</div>
