Wedding Woes

Morning!

How was your weekend?

Pretty good here.  Saturday DH took the kids to Sam's while I started cleaning out the nursery (I'm in denial that this kid is almost half baked).  Then I got a haircut.  I like the cut, but realized it's just like Savannah Guthrie's.  I don't know anyone that would walk into a salon and ask for her hair.  Saturday night we had a cook out with some of DH's high school friends.  Good times.

Sunday I skipped church because I felt like ass.  Seriously, I felt like a had a hangover even though I was the only one not drinking.  Instead we hit up the ultimate hangover cure- Bob Evan's.  6let was dying to go fishing so we did that.  After lunch Dh and 6let went shopping for my bday and M2 and I took a couple hour nap.

Overall busy, but a great weekend.

Re: Morning!

  • First of all, Savannah Guthrie is cute and I think she has great hair.  It's sort of a modern-day Rachel.  :)

Saturday I went to my niece and nephew's joint birthday party.  Her birthday was in April but she was in China, so it was nice to see her be able to celebrate this year and not get the birthday shaft.

Then it was home to get the house ready for Sunday.  When I got home, DH had the kitchen clean (he didn't go to the party because, surprise!, Son had a baseball tournament).  I wanted to cry.  It was awesome to have one less room to work on.

Sunday was DD2's first birthday party.  I can't believe this child is one.  She loves her gifts and I love that she got more clothes than toys. :)  She dove into the smash cake I made.  I think the only food she ate yesterday were blueberries and frosting.

    Oh the weekend...

Friday was OK.  I just hung out with my neighbor on my patio and had a few drinks.

Saturday, we were up early, went to the BMV to plate our new car, then we took the new car to get the windows tinted.  We went to lunch with some friends who were visiting town for the weekend.  We went and picked up the car and then hung out the rest of the night.  We tried to watch Sherlock Holmes 2.  I'll post a review later.

Sunday, brunch with my family for my mom's birthday.  The fire alarms went off and the guy at the omlet station gave DH's omlet away.  But the food was good.  When we got home, DH, me, and DefConn took naps.  After naps, I went to see Magic Mike with my neighbor.  When I got home, DH told me that our spigot was leaking.  I asked if we should call a plumber.  DH spoke the famous last words about being able to take care of it himself.  We ran to the store, got home, and DH fixed it all right.  No water for 3+ hours, emergency plumber call, a hole in my wall, and $500 later, it's fixed.  :-/ Oh yeah, and the baby had to be moved twice (because of course the hole/work was done in his room)  and my house is a nightmare.

But hey, the weekend was a WIN because I didn't see my IL's for the 20th weekend in a row and we did stuff we wanted to do.

Taw- the bday pics were really cute.  Glad she had fun and yay for a clean kitchen.  My husband still doesn't know where the kitchen towels are.  For some reason I'm always shocked when I see a pic of you.  The real you and my made up you are so dissimilar I have to do a double take.

Conn- Big bummer on the water.  Big bummer.

Friday the Mr. and I took Buffy to 'early reading letter enrichment activity' at the library.  She ahd fun and spent most of the time eying the other children suspiciously.
The kid decided not to take a nap, she 'sang' to herself for 1.5 hours...so she was on edge when she got up.  She took umbrage w/ daddy leaving for work and physically threw herself at the door for like 15 minutes, followed by much wailing/flopping on the floor/etc...until she finally crawled into the living room and slept on the floor for 2 hours while I watched TV and folded laundry.  WIN.

Saturday the Mr. let me sleep in until like 10 (bless him) and we had plans to play togethr...and the sump broke.  So every time we ran water/did laundry, the basement laundry room flooded.  We got it to 'workable' before he left for work and FINALLY finished fixing it last night.
Buffy and I went out and did some shopping--got the Mr. a new lunchbox, etc.

Sunday I let the Mr. sleep in, Buffy and I went to 'old people church' and we repeated the nap failure, except this time without the winning nap afterwards.
  • Saturday was run around and get prices for Deck day.  H and I had breakfast together...I love biscuits with jam.  Then H did some errands while I watched hours of tv off the DVR and I still have HOURS to go.  Then we had an early dinner and saw The Avengers.  Recommend 100%.  Loved that movie.  Then ice cream with H.

Sunday H actually spent the entire day in another city about an hour north searching with other volunteers for two missing girls.  Very sad and I'm sure the news will not be good once there is news.  I of course spent more couch time, and then dinner with the family for my Bro's birthday.  Fun times.

Taw-your littlest is adorable.  And yay for Mr. Taw cleaning...what a blessing.

    Conn--ugh.  Plumbing.  Not cool.

6-I find that there are so few hairstyles for certain lengths.  Just be glad it is a style and not just random pieces on your head arranged like a mop.  AND, I looked up that savannah chick and I don't have any complaints.

GBCK-sleeping in is the best part of that weekend.

Mmmmmm biscuits.  I prefer sausage gravy to jam, but there is never a BAD way to eat a biscuit.  Are you ready for the deck then?

SG's hair is a bit longer and I side part instead of middle, but it's still very very similar.
  • H wants to start the deck around labor day...so we'll wait until then.

  • I could've gone without this weekend.  Long story short:  I've drawn a line in the sand.  I'm making DH go to therapy and get help for his depression.  His appointment is in about 2 weeks b/c he wants to see the same therapist I did which is fine with me.  I"ve told him if the therapist wants me to start coming in again or if he wants me to come with DH, I will.

Also, I had to call in a noise complaint again.  So, I feel totally elderly, but your bad karoake was keeping me up.  This is my neighborhood and my home...not your pool party bar (it's a lodge doing this).

mmm, sleep.  It may have been best.
And I also made breakfast biscuts this weekend (sasuage and eggs mixed into biscut.  Freeze.  Pop into microwave on way out door...ta-da,. warm tasty breakfast you ca eat with 1 hand)

I'm glad there's someone there's already rapport w/ Varuna, because therapist shopping sucks a lot.

  • Unfortunately GB, as soon as the words, "non-religious affiliated" comes out of your mouth, it's pretty easy to narrow it down in this town.  There's really only 2 clinics (and one is actually a school, student training situation), the rest are individual practices.

Interestingly enough, the therapist I ended up liking so much asked me how we were matched.  I told him what my quantifications were that they ended up matching me with him.  He then told me, since it seemed important to me that he not be religiously affiliated, that he did attend seminary to become a priest, but met his wife and decided he wanted to be married more.  I told him I didn't care if he was personally religious, I just didn't want a religious based therapy (i.e. what did you talk to god about today) or someone with their degree from a religious school.
  • Boo V, on all of that.  I hope your line drawing helps, as well as the therapy.  *vibes*

  • Ugh V.  I'm sorry that it's come to that, but I'm glad he's made the appointment.

And I'm not above calling in a noise complaint either.  It's friggin' rude to be that disruptive at all hours of the night.
  • MissConn (hangs head in shame) it was 10:45.  But in my defense, last time they went after 10, I finally called in at midnight.  And it was on a weekday they did that, at least this time it was Saturday.

I've lived here since 2005 and we've never had an issue with the lodge like this.  I think they've bought a stupid karoake machine.  They started about 6 o'clock.  The more the night war on, the louder it became.  I could hear the entire singing and the entire song, clearly, from my front porch.  To top it offf, they're all BAD BAD BAD BAB BAD.  BAD.  They've had parties in the past and musicians, but they always were finished by 10 and not that loud.

I keep thinking I need to just go talk to their manager or leader of the lodge and just try and hit a compromise.  I don't want to be a joykiller, but I don't want to listen to you guys all damn day and night either.

  • I have two kids, one being a baby.  At 10:45, he's in bed and if my neighbors are acting a fool and keeping him up, you better bet I'm calling in the complaint.  I would have to wait 15 min (because the cops won't come out until after 11), but I'm calling.

I won't go to another religiously affiliated counselor, and...I consider myself pretty religous.  But I findi it's bad for me, spiritually, to get the 2 conflated.

stupid neighbors need a boot to th butt and a ticket.

V- Good luck to your husband and you.
  • Good luck V, hope he starts to find a better state of mind soon. And we very nerly called the cops Friday night for the same issue, bad, top of their lungs karaoke. They stopped just before 11 though.

I am finally starting to wake up, our weekend was full of flooring, flooring and more flooring. We pulled carpet up last week in our living room, and husband and brother patched and leveled the floor Saturday. Then Sunday after church and some errands, my Dad and husband starting laying the laminate. Brother joined in later after juping out of a plane with some coworkers for the first time.

After some minor headaches with fitting pieces in around our fireplace, they got the floor about 70% done. I was sweeping and trying to get the areas of the house the living roo  threw up into more organized and straightened up while making dinner for everyone and keeping my niece entertained. We were both dead tired last night, but this is so worth it.
