Something, Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Any ideas? I don't have anything to borrow or anything Old! Everything that I have is new (panties will be blue). There is nothing that I can think of for the other two.

Re: Something, Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

  • For my old I am having my old pound puppy I got from the Easter bunny when I was 6! :) I am have a pocket made on the inside of my dress where he will be! Kinda goofy I know, but it is something sentimental to me I have had for a long time! So on that theme maybe a little trinket or something from your childhood you could hide in your dress or bouquet? My sister took a small patch of her blanket she had as a baby for another idea...I know that is a silly one too!

  • Do you have any old family heirlooms that can be sewn into your dress or tied to your bouquet? My grandmother collected handkerchiefs, so I'm wrapping my bouquet in one, and then my fiance's family's rosary will be wrapped around that (borrowed).

Anything from your childhood is good, and you can borrow a piece of jewelry from a relative for your something borrowed.
  • I am stuck on a couple of mine too.

Something Blue: the monogram on my garter is blue and my underwear is blue
Something New: my veil (as I'm hoping to pass down to my  kids one day and have them use as their something old)
    Something Borrowed: not sure....
    Something Old: not sure....

For Something Old I think I'm going to cut some of the lace off my First Communion dress and use it to wrap my flowers... not sure though. And then for Something Borrowed I'm either going to borrow my moms pearl earrings or a broach from her and put the broach on my flowers. Not sure yet though.

  • Everyone has great ideas but, I already have all of my jewelry so it would not really be possible to borrow from someone else. I guess I could have something sewn into my dress.
  • If you go to the "Customs and Traditions" board there is a helpful sticky about this that you will love at the top.

  • For the old and borrowed you can always have something you can get sewn or pinned to the inside of your dress. You could have something like a grandparents old hankerchief sewn in or even just clipped on the inside of your dress.
  • My something old is a 1920s butterfly brooch. My godmother is letting me borrow it and it will be pinned to my bouquet.  Although it's borrowed my "something borrowed" is my other aunt's diamond bracelet, that way they both get to be a part of it.

    NEW: everything...dress, shoes, undies...
BORROWED: I borrowed my grandpa's necklace that was given to my dad after he passed away...Still not sure where I am going to put it though. I already had a charm made for my bouquet with our picture on it so I am trying to figure something else out

  • For my old and borrowed I wore on my right hand pinky the ring my dad gave my mom for their first Valentine's Day together. It didn't match any of my jewelry, but it means a lot to my mom and it meant a lot to me that she would let me borrow it on my wedding day.
