  • As long as you don't make a habit of being grossly over on anything, you should be good.  I'm assuming that you have a set point you're going for and you can really eat in a bit of a gap.

     For example:

I just keep my calories somewhere between 1500 and 1750.
    fats 35 - 75
    carbs 190 - 200
    Protein 100 - 175
  • i didn't have a range before but i will now. i just figured i had to keep within what mfp set for me. thanks for the tip! :)

No problemo.  unfortunately, there is no set number that will work well for everyone so you really need to play around with it a bit.  Just for curiosity sake, you should check out SparkPeople.com.  They give you a range.  Then you can at least compare the low-high to what MFP tells you.
  • i'll do that. thanks again

I wouldn't worry too much about going over mfp's fat guidelines, as long a chunk of the fats that you're eating are from healthier sources, like olive oil, avocado, nuts, etc, vs fried chicken, donuts - well, pretty much any fried food (ok in moderation). I have the opposite problem as you - I undereat on fat and eat too many carbs (I like sweets and cereal). It seems to work out okay as long as my calories are on track, which mostly happens when I eat healthier foods (sweets don't fill me up, so I stay hungry, which is bad).
