Vendors at Omin Parker House

we're getting married in October at the Omni Parker house and vendors are hitting us with high delivery and set up surcharges based on the building. anyone else encountered this - at this location or elsewhere? I am trying to get a sense of what is reasonable, especially for flower delivery and setup. thanks!

Re: Vendors at Omin Parker House

  • That will be true of most places.  There are set up fees because they have to spend several hours putting things into place on the wedding day.
  • It depends on the florist. Some will do a % of the total bill (when I was meeting with florists, it was as high as 10%). I ended up working with The Tangled Web and Jen charged a flat fee of around $150.
  • I remember the staff at Omni Parker mentioning that when I looked at it as a possible venue... They said it was due to the historic nature of the building (i.e., smaller than modern hotels) - because of the small entrances and elevators, and lack of places to unload fully, vendors have to make many more trips than they would elsewhere.
  • I remember seeing on my wedding photographer's blog that she worked there a lot. I am not sre if it was because her last name was Parker or what. I can imagine if the hotel is right downtown there are extra fees to deal with the hassle of parking but I would hope the delivery fee would be built into the price of whatever you buy. That sucks that you are being nickel and dimed. Is it only the preferred vendors that are charging higher fees?
