New here, Location help

HI,

I'm new here.  Just posted my info on the Newbie area.  I am looking for a location in the HV.  Want mansion, water view, outdoor ceremony and cocktails, possible outdoor reception all in one place no more than two hours from the city.  Approximately 150 guests.  I've already seen a lot, Catlin, Locust, The View and some barns.  My planner, Anh Sobo (totally awesome if anyone is in need), showed me Glenmere, she is the new coordinator there.  I loved it, but felt since I have more than a year to go, that I could spend a little more time investigating.  Its just my personality I guess, I want to make sure I've explored all my options.  Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone had any different locations.  Thanks, Ellen

Check out Wainwright House in Rye.  Sounds like it would have everything you are looking for.

I don't have any mansion suggestions, but I just wanted to say that if you see a place you like, book it.  You're going to have a very hard time planning if you try to see every option out there for every step.  It will just make you question your decision.  There will always be another venue you could see or another photographer and it will be very stressful.  Good luck!

I'm having my cereomony at Mills Mansion in Staatsburgh, NY. Is is incredibly gorgeous! The mansion is beautiful and the the location is on the waterfront. You are able to have cermononies and receptions there.  You can check out the website for them and call for information. I would recommend going to visit it and walk around - the scenery itself is incredible. Smile

Our venue, Putnam National Golf Club in Mahopac is catered by Jean Jacques out of Pleasantville. They have a bunch of properties that would fit what you are looking for. GL!

Just started searching for a venue, we looked at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club, gorgeous views of the golf course, mountains, they have a lake nearby you can see from the reception hall, water features and seasonal plantings outside and their prices were very good for a brand new place  they quoted me $110 - $140 pp for a Saturday evening in October 2011...I have been to the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY for a couple fundraising events and they have the water/ bridge view that is really beautiful, my experience was positive there...We have looked at Catlin Gardens then off to look at Bear Mountain and I am sure otheres to find my perfect venue!   Good luck.

Don't delay too much--a year sounds like a long time but it seems like around here it's really not.  I started looking at venues in Sept 2010 for my Oct 2011 wedding, and was shocked to find that a lot of places were already mostly booked for all of 2011.
